- Wedding: July 2015
BUT WE DIDN’T CARE AT ALL!
We just got married on July 25. The day started out at 6am, opening my parent’s freezer. My husband is the manager of a famous creamery so we purchased 200 ice cream sandwiches in various flavors to have instead of cake. On the day of the wedding, we opened the freezer and saw….melted ice cream all over the shelves. The door hadn’t closed all the way and every single one was completely melted. Soo we had a mini pity party and then decided we’d just deal with it later.
We got to the venue and started setting up. It was raining (after the longest stretch of no rain ever!) and we were supposed to have an outdoor ceremony on a deck overlooking the water. We decided to set the chairs outside anyways because we rented them and they were non refundable. Well the chair guys were supposed to show up at 10. By 11 we were getting worried. When my mother spoke to them on the phone, they said they had no record of us. While that was going on I got a call from a different number saying they were here with chairs. Turns out they are just horrible at records.
Back to the fact that we had no dessert. We sent my Mother-In-Law to the nearest Costco to try to get sheet cakes. She called back to inform us that they wouldn’t have time to make us new ones and the only ones they had were birthday. So yes, we did serve birthday Costco cake.
While we were getting ready, I found out from my aunt that my husband’s boutineer was falling apart. By the time we took pictures it had lost half its petals and it fell off during the first dance. Afterwards, I found out the other boutineers for the fathers, my brother, and corsages for the mothers never left the grooms room so no one ever got them. I didn’t notice the whole night.
The sky parted long enough for us to take our first look pictures but after that we had to go inside for family ones. So instead of being on the beautiful water, they’re downstairs infront of a stairway.
At that point we still hadn’t called whether it was going to be inside or outside. It seemed like it was letting up so we decided to risk it and go outside. It ended up not raining for the ceremony. During the ceremony the best man dropped the rings and they almost fell into the water below.
During the reception my Maid/Matron of Honor got her ring stuck in my dress. She tried to get it out and in the process I dumped my glass of blackberry lemonade all over my dress. It wasn’t too obvious. After that we served out Costco cake and had a blast!
I hope you all have perfect wedding days, but if you don’t, try not to sweat the small stuff. We just went with it, kept laughing, and had a great time. Mother Nature even rewarded us with an amazing sunset at the end of the night.
