My parents and Fiance dad and step mum booked and are paying for their own hotels,  they wanted to stay the night rather than getting a taxi home so it was up to them as the wedding is super local.

We have booked and are going to pay for his mother though as she is less local, and can’t drive as she is disabled. She wouldn’t be able to afford to stay or for additional travel expenses on the night and becasue we want her to stay for the whole event us paying for her accommodation is our gift to her.

I wouldn’t say it comes down to any favouritism or anything, just circumstance and wanting her there.

I would say its a nice gesture to take care of the room for them, regardless of you taking care of your own parents. If you don’t hear back from them I would just cover the cost of their room, just because they didnt help out with the wedding process itself, doesn’t mean they won’t be there for you in the future.
