I knew he was going to propose soon (I eavesdropped on the “talk” he had with my dad).  He didn’t tell me the time or location of the upcoming proposal, but I 100% guessed it. LOL

I was 99.99999% sure he was going to propose on vacation. I knew he had a ring, and he’d been dropping serious hints, plus he held onto his carry-on for dear life. But, my birthday was 5 days into the trip and I kind of thought he’d do it then. Instead he did it our very first night on the beach– so that was a surprise!

I knew he was going to do it at some point. He had casually mentioned being engaged by the end of the summer and I told him that I needed at least a year to plan. We had come back from a short mini vacation at the shore, and he popped the question while we were sitting on the couch. Very us! But, it was cute that he did it after vacation b/c I wasn’t expecting that at all! So he definitely surprised me with when he did it, but I knew it was coming sometime!!

I knew he had asked my dad’s permission but I didn’t know he had the ring and I was taken offguard. But I should’ve known, in hindsight.

We had talked of marriage but not much. He was in school and a few months before he proposed he said he wanted to be done with school and be financially stable and starting his carrier before we thought about getting married. So when he proposed a few months later it was a HUGE surprise! Never saw it coming. I thought it would be at least 2 or 3 years before he wanted to even think about marriage, but I was wrong. Maybe that was is plan.

He took me out to a nice dinner, I told my mom before hand: “NOOO, this restaurant is going out of business! We won’t be able to go back to be sentimental.” I clearly knew.

I told him we were getting married this summer, but he’d actually been planning on proposing to me for several months even before we lost Moose and then he totally surprised me when he actualyl did it. There were covert plans with his family and everything.

I knew that he had been talking with his family’s jeweler, but didn’t know his timeline. FI’s company also went through a hard time with lay offs the month before we got engaged, so the idea of him proposing when a lay off might happen didn’t seem extremely likely.

We went on a planned trip to Vegas and he surprised me with a ring at the end of dinner on our second night there. I was totally not on to him, only a minute before he did it did I think “Is he going propose?!”

We spoke of marriage, but I had assumed we would wait until immigration issues were sorted out. I would have been entirely surprised, except that he hid the ring in a shirt of his while we were camping, and I felt the shirt and saw the box before he actually proposed. I didn’t say a word, though – he would have been devastated!

We talked about getting engaged and he told me he’d been looking at rings and shopping around with some help from his mother. We sort of had a general timeline, and he’d said it would happen before our 3rd anniversary in August. But, he was determined for the actual day/time/place to be a total surprise, and it was! He proposed in April on a day we had planned to just go to the movies and dinner (well, that’s what I thought we’d planned, but it was all a cover) and took me to our favorite lighthouse for a romantic surprise proposal instead!

After being together for many years I knew it was going to come as soon as we both graduated and had jobs and were “stable.”  Unfortunately, it took me 14 months after graduation to find a job!  But the first week of my new job was our five year anniversary so I knew it was going to  happen. I was only suprised when it happened the moment I walked in the door rather than after dinner!

He was so excited he kept telling me about the ring shopping and then how he was going to propose on our family vacation and how my dad had the ring in his briefcase on the plane etc. It was really cute that he couldn’t keep the secret because of how excited he was and I didn’t mind because I knew it was coming!

I had NO idea that he had…

    -talked to my parents

    -bought a ring

-his parents brought the ring to our house

-he smuggled it to ohio with us to attend a friend’s wedding (he did NOT propose during the reception, don’t worry!!!)

-bribed the concierge to get a wine bucket in the room

-gotten one of his buddies to sprinkle rose petals throughout our hotel suite and stash the ring in drawer

…so that when we got up to the suite AFTER the reception I had NO idea why there were rose petals everywhere and he was pouring me a glass of wine!! Ten seconds later he proposed with a ring he designed himself and I BAWLED, shamelessly haha. We had always alluded to marriage, but it always seemed to be he didn’t mind taking things slowly, and we knew we couldn’t get married until 2012, so I honestly didn’t expect it AT ALL!! It was fabulous!!!

We made a commitment to discuss everything, so I knew he was going to propose.  It was on stage in front of lots of people, so he wanted me to know so that I wouldn’t be too freaked out.

But I was still nervous and caught off guard because I didn’t know what to expect.
