gardnerg :  The best advice I can give you is to look at your wedding set as a symbol of your love and not a fashion statement. It’s a token and not meant to be compared to expensive clothing and a way to keep up with the Joneses, so to speak.

Yes. I was. Even though I told my fiancé what I wanted and showed him pics I was completely blown away when I saw it. That being said I have pretty simple taste in jewelry and clothing.  My ring is the only expensive piece of jewelry I own. Otherwise I’m pretty simple. I’m def a jeans and uggs kind of girl lol

My ring was exactly what I wanted and it far exceeded my expectations once it was on my finger.  It really is my dream ring and I wouldn’t change one single thing.  I stare at it all day long!  But what I love most about it is my fiancé made sure he fulfilled (and exceeded) what I wanted and that makes me love it 100x more.

Pics can’t do it justice. It’s a 2.25 D color stone VVS 2.

My engagement ring was my first piece of ring jewelry. I was pretty wowed. I chose it myself, but the CADs I got made it look horribly bulky. When I got it, it was just so sparkly, delicate, and beautiful! I love it!

And one more, just because I’m obsessed with it.

gardnerg :  My advice would be to:

1) Go for something that suits your style and don’t worry about what an engagement ring “traditionally” looks like (ex. white diamond, traditional yellow or white gold tones, etc.)

2) Try rings on in-person if you can. Seeing it on my hand helped me realize which diamond shape I wanted without a doubt, and there are websites and apps that can show you what different settings will look like on your hand.

3) Talk about your preferences with your partner so that you two are on the same page. My husband was surprised to learn that I wanted a marquise diamond, but that’s what he got for me.

4) Don’t be afraid to upgrade if your tastes change. I know that this will be my forever ring, and upgrading was a new concept to me when I first joined The Bee, but that doesn’t mean that you have to wear the same ring for your whole life. You have options!

Best of luck with finding your dream ring(s) 🙂 Here’s my set:

gardnerg :  have you considered a colored stone for your engagement ring? It doesn’t need to be a diamond. It also doesn’t need to be any specific style. Maybe you are just looking at the wrong things, or limiting yourself too much in what you are looking at.

I was and am totally wowed by my ring. I’m pretty simple generally but i love vintage design and style. My ring is my most beautiful piece of jewelry but also my most loved because it’s a symbol of my love for Fiance and his for me.
