@june13:  My few previews was some of the best ones but I only received a few and there were soooo many great ones, I wouldn’t worry too much!

Overall composition, not you in particular. If you don’t like the poses in the end, you can ask for the reject photos.

@june13:  I think it’s all a matter of opinion. I loved the preview photos but I had others I loved more once I saw them all.

Mine were not! A couple were favorites, but others I thought were cute but not ones I ended up wanting to print. I was so excited to see there were some killer hidden gems in our final edits!

Some of my favorite shots were the preview shots but there were plenty of great photos once we saw the whole set.

There was a shot that our photographer used on social media (with our permission) before I saw the preview set and boy was I nervous because I thought it was very unflattering of me. But that’s all a matter of perspective from the viewer.

Not a wedding photoshoot, but I had a talented friend do a photoshoot of me once. It was very illuminating, because she sent me ALL the raw images and we both compiled a list of about 40 favourites that we thought should be edited.

The two lists hardly overlapped at all! She chose images that I rejected because I disliked xyz about how I looked, but she didn’t notice those things at all. Similarly, she rejected images because they weren’t as good in her professional opinion but I thought I looked hot and didn’t care about the finer artistic points.

I’m sure you’ll get some fab shots.

In my experience doing family photos and such, my favorites are rarely the photographer’s favorites. I think it’s because I care more about how we look, and she’s looking more at overall composition, lighting etc. She doesn’t care if I have a double chin because hey, that’s how I look. But I’d prefer not to showcase that obviously lol.

As a wedding photographer I can tell you that my favorites are almost never my clients favorite from a final gallery, and vice versa. It’s also important to remember that while speak peaks are fun to get, the photographer’s social media is purely for marketing – it’s not designed as an added perk to the package. 😉 We typically post photos that best reflect our style and will attract future clients who feel drawn to those images.

Also, just from a human (and female) perspective – we are our own worse critic. Even when I’m photographed I don’t love every photo, not because they aren’t good photos but because I don’t love me.

It’s also important to remember that a wedding day is story telling, and documenting the day. Not every image will look like it’s from a magazine because 90% of the day are raw moments, not curated ones like the formal portraits are. 🙂

@june13:  Even though you requested them, I would bet with most certainty he picked those just as he would if he were culling a few to preview for his social media. Obviously with the exception of family formals, which most of us never post, I’m sure he flagged a few of his favorites similar to if he was doing a social media preview!

My very favorite was included in the ~5 previews, but some of my other favorites were not.  I’m sure you’ll have some more great ones.

@june13:  No wedding yet but I’ve taken engagement photos so I’ll use those as an example. I would say more than half of the photographer’s favorites are the ones that I thought looked the best. The rest were OK but not the ones I would have picked as my personal favorites.
