I have never been to a wedding there, but I have seen it since my highschool used to have our winter track meets at West Point each winter.  It’s gorgeous and I’m sure it’ll be a beautiful wedding.  Where are you going to have the reception?

Hi there MrsCPT…. I got your PM.  I am a June 2009, West Point bride.  We are actually doing both our ceremony and reception at Herbert Hall…. It gorgeous (well, at least what I’ve seen in pictures).  The cadet chapel is a beautiful venue.

I have pictures of Herbert Hall if you would like me to send them.  I don’t really have any of the cadet chapel.  The one thing I would note, is to make sure your photography is good at lighting up darker areas without the use of flash.  There are many photographers which can handle this, they just have to have the right equipment.  (We were going to us the Cadet Chapel until we found out they only had a early morning time available on our date.)

I am planning my wedding from California, so needless to say I’m a bit behind, but I would love to help where I can.  I have a caterer and a baker.  We are using Loughran’s for our caterer and The Pastry Garden in Newburgh for our bakery.  I’m still working on my photographer, DJ, Tables/Chairs, and Linens vendors, but I have gathered quite a bit of information about those in the area.

Your fiance is an Old Grad?  What year?  Well, I hope some of this helps… If you want more information about what he know about our 2 vendors or any of the ones I have researched but not booked just let me know. You can email me at wslaughter @ hotmail.com  (no spaces… I just did that so the site would let me post my email)

I’m not a West Point bride, but I’ve been to a few weddings there. The scenery in gorgeous! If you’re still looking for a photographer I suggest Steve Planck at Blue Sky Photography, he’s very professional yet laid back… and he takes awesome photos!

Good luck!

I had just been reading these boards, but I had to register to share that I too, am a West Point bride. The wedding is in June 2010, weeks after my fiance’s graduation, and my own as well (from another college). We are also getting married at the Cadet Chapel, and are looking at the ’49er Lodge for the reception. It’s in the woods by Delafield Pond, and catered by the club. Hopefully it will work out.

I feel so grateful to have a stunning space like the chapel for the ceremony, and such wonderful natural scenery there on post. We also have a lot of good memories of visits there, since we’ve been together since before college and have been doing the West Point long distance thing. I know this is months old but I wanted to let you know there is another Wedding Party bride here!

Hello all! Not a Wedding Party bride, but have lots of family ties there and have been to many weddings there! I am currently in Hawaii planning my wedding in NY, we are having the ceremony and reception at the Bear Mountain Inn (pretty close to Wedding Party, where my uncle had his reception after a wedding at the Cadet Chapel). It hasn’t been a popular spot since the management let it go downhill the past 15 years but luckily it is being managed by a new company that is renovating EVERYTHING. Should be a great venue and very rustic for us outdoor lovers. I wanted to post here since I am looking for DJ, florist, photographer, hair/makeup recommendations for the area. Please let me know if ya’ll come across any good finds!! THANKS 🙂

Hawaii2NewYork:

There are some vendor reviews on the Hudson Valley board here. I haven’t really hired many vendors yet so I’m not fully versed on all the possibilities that are out there but once I do start hiring I’ll try to share whatever knowledge I pick up.

We’ll probably have our rehearsal dinner in a local restaurant but we haven’t figured out much beyond that – I’ll sort of be working on that with my Future Father-In-Law so we’ll see.

I’ve been looking at the Bear Mountain Inn website some – I’ll have to check it out for next year when I go to see my fiance or even for wedding lodging.
