We are narrowing donw our venue for our Aug/Sept wedding this year – our first choice in the Westchester area is slightly out of our budget, though we are still trying to negotiate with them. After looking at many places, we’ve narrowed down our second choice to either Scarsdale women’s club (aka Rowsley Estate) with Jean-Jacques catering and Crabtree Kittle house. We have pros and cons about each.
Has anyone looked at both and more specifically chose one over the other? Why? What were your thoughts that made you like one less or more? Having trouble deciding between the two so just looking for other thoughts on comparisions

HI! I know this is not exactly what you’re looking for, but I had my bat mitzvah (a loooooong time ago) at Crabtree Kittle House and it was really wonderful! The food was delicious, I remember my parents commenting that the customer service was good and that they felt a lot of attention paid to them (although it’s unlikely that the same people are there, unfortunately), and it was a beautiful event. I don’t think you could go wrong having it there, but I don’t know your other option. Hope this helps at all!

I love Kittle House. I’ve only been for dinner, not any sort of big party or event, but it would be fabulous for a reception, IMO. I’ve never been to Rowley Estate so I can’t really give you anything there.

Thanks for the responses so far. I do love kittle hosue – except my least favorite room is the main banquet room downstairs. For those of you that have been there…what are your thoughts on that? Does it feel too basement-y? the rest of the place is beautiful…and if we have good weather, then what a bonus to be able to be outside int he beautiful yard.

I have the same concerns! I love the Kittle House but my mom thinks our guests will feel too crowded in that room. We’re moving forward with Kittle House because it’s much more affordable than our other options but I am trying really hard to get my guest list down so it doesn’t feel cramped. Has anyone had a wedding at Kittle House with over 175 people?

I looked at the Scarsdale womens club, I did really like the venue but I felt there were many cons as well. Some of the things I did not like were the space for the cocktail hour if the weather was bad, as well as the bathrooms being upstairs we ultimately decided that the room would not be large enough for our wedding.

Check out Antuns in Elmsford, NY (www.antunsofwestchester.com) – their prices start at $60 per person – and if you do a Sunday wedding, you may be able to negotiate a better rate.
