No advice here, but I wish him the best of luck!  Hope it’s nothing too serious.

Poor dog. He may have a UTI, sometimes this causes them to have accidents. Also, are you experiencing severe heat this time of year? My older dog has had an accident before when she has been so exhausted and I’m wondering if the heat is really doing a number on your dog.

@graygodess20:  I’m sorry! we adopted a pup, too… and he pees all the time on things when he gets excited and occasionalyl wets the bed while sleeping. I am glad you’re taking him to the vet to get him checked out.

We started picking up his water bowl a few hours before bedtime and taking him out one final time before bed and he hasn’t accidentally wet the bed since. Now- he still gets mad or excited and pees occasionally, but no accidents =)

Could you treat this the way you would with a human child?  No water after 8pm, wake him up a couple of times a night and take him out to pee?  Would that help too?

@graygodess20:  Does the urine look cloudy white at all?  that’s a dead giveaway for a  UTI.  Obviously the vet will tell you… but if you’ve noticed that symptom, it might put your mind to rest a little in the meantime.

I don’t have any personal experience, but I’m pretty sure there is a medication for pets with urinary incontinence that usually works well.

Family friends had a dog that had a tumor….one of the first signs was that she lost control of her bladder and bowels, (like, she would go down the steps and leave a little poop on each step, being unaware that she was even going).

I hope it’s just a UTI with your boy.  Also, could this be a side effect of the Lymes, perhaps?

My female dog started doing that too and she had a UTI. We also now give her a bladder support pill twice a day that we get at Petco or Petsmart. Hoping everything is ok with your little guy!
