- Wedding: September 2012
We’ve had our photos for a while now, but our photographer just posted some on his blog!
The wedding was great. Seriously, I now see how people can say it was the happiest day of their lives. I could not stop smiling.
Things I am SO glad I/we did: first look with my dad (just my dad and I- and the photographer), the photobooth (soooo much fun! great pics!), the wine box ceremony and completely personalized ceremony script, got an amazing band (everyone loved them and danced), the father-daughter/mother-son dance, have kids at the wedding (I was a little torn on this, but husband was right, they were SO great to have around!), lots of “just us” photos (gave us some semi alone time, as well as great pictures, the best of which are not even blogged!).
Things I would likely change if I could: take a photo of just my husband and I in the photobooth (we have tons of pictures of us AND other people, but we may be the only couple not to take a cute kissing photo or just a photo by ourselves at all in the photobooth), give my bouquet to matron to honor during ceremony (we had practiced givign it, but in my elation, I completely blanked), do everything crafts wise WAY earlier (I spent the ENTIRE Thursday before the wedding making table numbers that I thought would be done in an hour), make band play another slow song earlier in night (for the grandparents before they left), and make sure I get specific details from florist or pictures of examples (everything was good, but if I had known of some things beforehand, there would be easy fixes to make them better- like smaller bows on the bridesmaid bouquets).
Vendors: location- Shade Trees and Evergreens; photographer and photobooth- Happy Couple Photography; catering- Gourmet with Paula; Day of Coordinator- Emilie Staats Hilsenrath from Bliss; florist- Caroline LaRocca Hammond (tough to communicate with, but ended up doing a good job); drinks- Ye Olde Spirit Shop (again, pain in the butt to communicate with, but ended up working out well); cupcakes- Sweet Angela’s Cupcakery; hair and makeup- Samsara Salon; band- In Full; officiant- Maureen Burke; bridesmaid dresses- Alfred Sung from Joielle; tux and alteratons- Nordstrom at Pentagon City. (PM me if you have questions about any of the vendors. Unless noted, I would whole heartedly tell you to run and book them immediately without any hesitation or discussion)
