How many other brides were proposed to over the holidays?
Here is our story because I’ve never shared it in a WB post before 🙂 This time last year Fiance and I had just gone 4 months (almost 5 months) living in separate cities. We were an 18 hour drive, 1250kms, or just under 800 miles apart and miserable without each other. In this time apart we had only seen each other once over a long weekend and had stayed in touch through letters, emails, texts, and talking on the phone. Those fews months were really what showed us what was important to us: each other 🙂
My man flew in on the 21st of December so that he could be home for the holidays. Before he really had a chance to see anyone he jetted me away for a romantic getaway in Vancouver, BC because he had booked a hotel and had made dinner reservations there for us. Of course I had thoughts running through my mind, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up so I just chalked it all up to him wanting to make up for months worth of missed dates.
We spent a wonderful day in downtown Vancouver catching up on our Christmas shopping and visiting Stanley Park. The snow had begun to fall just in time for a white Christmas and the city was beautiful with sparkling lights and decorations. We bundled up and enjoyed our well deserved time together in our favourite city in the world.
We had an amazing 5 star four course meal at the Gotham Steakhouse:
And a wonderful stay at the St. Regis Hotel, which was right next door:
He actually proposed to me before we went out for dinner. His intentions, as I later learned, were to do it at dinner, but he was too excited to wait. While I was getting myself ready for our evening out my man called me into the living room of our suite. I was still wearing a towel in my hair and the big fluffy white hotel robe. He looked extremely nervous and was standing in the doorway with something behind his back. Before my head could spin with ideas he was down on one knee with a shaking smile and asked, “Will you be my wife?” I cried with tears of joy and just shook my head “YES!” It was a perfect day, a perfect evening, and a perfect proposal after having spent so much time apart 🙂
Here’s a ring look-a-like 🙂
The holidays are really reminding me of the wonderful man I have and what a great proposal I got this time last year. I can’t believe how the time has flown! I know we’ll always have this special memory around Christmas time and I couldn’t be happier 🙂
Has anyone else been proposed to over the holidays? Do any of you waiting bees expect a proposal to come? Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!
