I’m glad you’re getting the wedding you wanted!  It’s great that you and your Fiance recognized it early enough and are getting to do it your way!  Good luck keeping the secret!

Totally feel like doing that too but to my Fiance and his family its important that we get married in their town church. But “at least” I get to marry my love ๐Ÿ˜‰

@PacificMrs:  Congrats! I had a similar breakdown on the phone w/ Fiance and we decided to totally cut down our wedding plans to a ceremony (courthouse or similar) with just the 2 of us and then a nice dinner reception in each of our home towns. And I just found out I’m pregnant so I’m very glad that we decided to scale things back. It was such a weight off my shoulders when I finally told everyone “this is what I want and this is what we’re doing. End of Story”.

Good for you! Weddings are supposed to be all about the happy couple, unfortunately other people seem to forget that.

Good for you!!! I wanted to elope soooo bad, but Fiance is an only child and was basically raised by his his single mom & aunt, and he said they would be super bummed if they didn’t get to see him get married.

Yay for you! I’m a total believer in eloping. Too many weddings (IMHO) seem to lose sight of what’s important and the stress, not to mention the money, is overshadowing the real event. I’m know I’m older than most bees (54) but so many of the weddings I hear about and see on those TV shows look like overblown princess parties you’d have for children.

I got married last summer on the beach in the Bahamas – just 6 guests and it was perfect for us. We had a back-home party the next month and that was that! When we first discussed marriage, my guy was terrified about a big event in which we’d be the focus. This wasn’t my first wedding but it was his and all we wanted was to be married. No fuss. I hope it all turns out exactly the way you want!
