@troubled: (and general FYI) – contrary to popular belief, it does NOT matter whose “genetics” or “side of the family” has more boys or girls, or the order they were born in. The gender of a baby depends on which egg ends up being “the winner” during fertilization. It has nothing to do with your family history.

@Miss Bubbles: actually it’s the sperm that determines it, but yeah ๐Ÿ™‚  Eggs always provide the X chromosome, and sperm can provide an X or Y.  There are so many minute factors in the body that affect reproduction though, that personally I’d be hesitant to say that there couldn’t be some genetic component that affects uterine environment, egg coating, cervical mucous, sperm or semen characteristics, etc. that could possibly sway the odds in a family line toward producing more of one gender or the other.  Similar to the way we know a tendency for multiple ovulation (and therefore fraternal twins) can run in families.
