For me it was cut then carat then color and lastly, clarity. I see a lot of bees here would rather go for a smaller stone than sacrifice on the color and clarity but I know that the first thing that people see is the size of the ring and the way it sparkles. Hence, that order of priority. I got an ideal cut pear (at least according to the depth and table percentages) and the shape of the pear was sooooo important to me that I might’ve seen almost 40 pears when I was looking. So the shape trumps the carat actually. And I wanted to get a larger stone so I didn’t go below my minimum carat weight even though I found a super gorgeous stone that I fell in love with but was below my carat requirement. In the end it all worked out though because I got my ideal cut, beautiful shape, 3.82 ct H si1 diamond that I love to bits!
