@hope1275 – OMG!!!! i hope your friend is OK!!!!!!!! yeah – it is SO incredibly scary and i can’t tell you how BEYOND thankful I am that my friends called the EMT’s.
I’m so happy for you – too – that, considering the situation – you all did the right thing too.
again, hope he’s ok!!

I just forwarded your story to my FI! They are goin to Las Vegas for his b.party in october a week before the wedding. I’m not 100% thrilled but he lives overseas and never gets to see his stateside friends, so whatev….I just don’t know what I would do if anything happened to him!

yeah. i was just a bit hysterical that night…course me being trashed myself didn’t exactly help…
but seriously – you’d THINK at our age we’d know better…just hope people realize it’s NOT cool…when you KNOW your limits stick to them.

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I forgot to add that he was ok! They monitored him and gave him IV fluids, which helped a lot (which makes sense–it dilutes the amount of alcohol in your blood). He didn’t know that he had had an ambulance ride to the hospital, though! He also didn’t know that he had stopped breathing when his head dropped down to his chest. I hope that scared him a little, because apparently his “personal best” was a BAC of 0.26!
But our friend wanted to just bring him home and let him sleep it off, and it made me think about how people don’t understand just how serious it is when someone’s that drunk, nor do people know where that line is between being able to sleep it off and needing to go to the hospital. That’s why I said that if someone’s not really responding to you, and can’t sit, let alone stand, that’s a huge red flag that they should be checked out by an EMT or in the ER.
