I am having one for my wedding too.  My fiance drew the tree and it turned out great!  We are having all of our guests fingerprint it, not just family.

@Wannabe-diy-bride: I think it’s a great idea if only your family will be attending the wedding. Otherwise, what are your friends going to sign? are you going to have another guestbook/tree for them?

You didn’t actually say that you wanted to do this at your wedding, but it would be a great idea to start a family fingerprint tree.

If the idea is to start it at your wedding because this might be  one of the few times when all the family is together, then I would be sure to do it either at the rehearsal dinner or have it off in a private room somewhere. This would ensure that the rest of your guests (a) aren’t offended because they  don’t understand , or (b) don’t mistakenly add their print to the family tree.

@Wannabe-diy-bride: ah, gotcha, then I think that’s a really cool idea!
