I am just full of questions lately, and here’s another!
I want to do something nice for my girls as a way to get them exicted about the wedding. I asked them a while ago, but I haven’t really talked about it since. I’m thinking about sending them a little “get pumped” kit. It’ll have a shirt that says brides maid, a mixed cd, some little treats, maybe some nail polish, and info for staying in touch (since they’re mostly out of state). And for the flower girl I’ll at a little tiara!
Anyway, I didn’t want to leave out the guys. I’m just not sure what they would like. We’re on a budget, (the above stuff is mostly DIY and I can find inexpensivly), but I don’t really know what to do for the guys. Would they want a groomsmen shirt? Or would they even care? My Fiance isn’t a lot of help, he is just kind of “sure, whatever you think.”
So what do you think?…

Men are easy, give them a six pack of beer, some nerf guns and eye-patches…they’ll love it!

@thisorderistall: My Fiance got them all flasks and he will also be buying them a bottle of their favorite alcohol.

I don’t think they’ll want a groomsmen shirt. They’d wear it for a photo-op if you wanted them to but I doubt they’d have too much use for it on their own. I agree that beer is always good — you could accompany it with a couple of beer mugs if you wanted!
For gifts on the actual wedding day (given at the rehearsal dinner), my husband got the guys some nice Swiss Army knives, which they loved.

We bought the Groomsmen embroidered bag coolers and filled them with their favorite beer or liquor with a mixer. It was a HIT! We were almost the last in our circle of friends to get married and all the guys said that it was the best gift they have received from a wedding 🙂

I thought about the beer thing but his friends don’t really like beer. One drinks it to be “manly” but they’ve all had multiple convorsations about how it’s gross. I LOVE the nerf gun idea though!!

@RoyalLime: Where did you find the bags?

I vote no on the shirts. And honestly, I think the girls might appreciate something other than bridesmaids shirts. You could do the same thing but pick a different applique – something that is more individualized and not wedding specific.
Honestly – if you want to do something to get them excited about wedding, why don’t you throw a little mixer. Invite the bridal party and their dates and just have a nice little cocktail party so everyone can get to know each other. You can talk about wedding stuff, but don’t try to get them to do any crafty projects or you might ruin the vibe.

@RoyalLime: Awesome, thanks!

I like that idea but unfortunately they all live out of state!
I know what you mean about the shirts, but since this isn’t a real “bridesmaids” gift I thought a silly little shirt would be okay. For the gifts at the wedding I’ll do something that can be used outside of the wedding. I agree though, I’m not sure guys would apprciate it as much, haha.

@thisorderistall: I think your Fiance should be the one handling gifts for his groomsmen and if they are nearby, he should throw a little guy’s night thing for all of them or like PP have a mixer of sorts so that the bridal party can meet one another (if they don’t already know one another) before the wedding. 🙂

We got our guys handmade bottle openers with their initials and the date of our wedding from etsy. They turned out awesome!
