any ideas as to what, if anything, i can provide for the kids in age range of 8-14 to do if they get bored during cocktail/after dinner hours?
our niece is 8 and then we have the two boys 12-14. i don’t really like the idea of them sitting with nintendos at the dinner table and i’m pretty sure we aren’t have a kids table.

I agree, we have two 8 year olds and I will be SICK to see them playing video games at the table…I was thinking a crossword/activity book…but what 8-10 year old boy likes THAT?!

@med700: I was thinking some sort of crazy puzzles, but the kind that are for older kids. i was thinking games but I have a feeling they would end up making a ton of noise.

@Mrs.Mittens: what about a scavenger hunt with a prize at the end? I think that would be really cool, AND FUN!

How about books? To read?
Or crossword puzzles? Not the type where you have to figure out the word from the definition, but the kind where you’re given words or numbers and have to put them into the blocks. Or word search puzzles.
Also, coloring books (I’ve ALWAYS loved coloring books) and activity books for older kids.
Sketch pads and pencils would work too.
You could also go to a store that caters to teachers and ask them what they would suggest. Or even ask teachers at a local school.

How about some small wooden/metal puzzle toys? they’re kinda hard (at least for me lol) so it’s a fun challenge that would keep them occupied a while
Like these kind of things: http://stores.brilliantpuzzles.com/StoreFront.bok
