A car?  15 1/2. I lived on a small farm though, so I remember driving a tractor as a small kid while we were bailing hay (my dad was on the wagon picking up the hay and I drove).  I was probably like 8.

I drove my dad’s truck the Summer before my 15th birthday on some family property.  Started driving for “fun” before I had my license when I was 15.  I’d drive on country roads.

Legally driving at 16 and one month.

A vehicle on the road? 16
Any motorized vehicle? 13/14. Driving a gator around the stable I worked and rode at. My friend who was my age but already driving snowmobiles and such tried to teach me but gave up when I backed into the electric and tensile wire fence on the back line. Whoops.

Good thing you added the ETA!  I started steering for my parents in neighborhoods when I was 4.  The first time I was behind the wheel operating both pedals and steering was 11 and it was in a parking lot and then on a 4WD beach.  My mom took me to practice consistently from 11 until I got my learner’s permit at 15, when I could do it legally on major roads.

I got my license at 18 in preparation to go to college. I didn’t have a need for one before then.

Got my permit at 15 and my license two days after my 16th birthday.

We lived on somewhat rural gravel road and I remember sitting on my mom’s lap and steering and a pretty young age.  It was super exciting at the time 🙂

Legally, just over 15 when I got my learner’s permit. But I learned to change gears from the passenger seat when I was under ten, and drove on family property around 11 for the first time, but that was more of a rare occurrence, definitely not the norm.

I started Drivers Ed when I was 14 1/2. I then got my license when I was 15 but couldn’t legally drive at night until I was 16!!

@abbyful: 18, no big rush for me. Not like I could afford my own car and they wouldn’t let me drive theirs.

15 with my learner’s permit. 16 and one month with my driver’s license. Both of these ages were the earliest I could legally do so in Indiana.

ETA: I “drove” on my parent’s laps down our cul-de-sac at a very young age.

Just started at 23 because I moved to the US and I had no need for it before. One of the thousands of reasons why I miss Paris…
