When you begin thinking, “What’s the point of this thing, anyway?” that is the proper time to remove your piercings.

@StuporDuck:  Meh well I kinda agree.. but I guess in this case, the point of this is “Hubby thinks it’s cute :P”

So.. I guess it can’t hurt to keep it. At least for a little while longer.

I’m 27 and still have mine.  I don’t really even notice it, but I’m afraid of how it will look when it closes up.

I took it out at 24. I feel like once I graduated grad school, had a big girl job, and was out to find a husband, it is time to remove it.

It was great for my early 20s, but it would look so silly now.

I took mine out at 23, but it’s still open so I put a ring in there every 6 months or so to keep it open in case I ever change my mind.

I would think it is fine until around 29. Almost like hitting 30 marks a new, more mature era lol.

This is hilarious because i JUST took mine out this weekend! I am 25 and have had mine for 11 years (yes, I had a fairly lenient mother Wink) and just felt that it was time. I have my nose and lip pierced too but rarely wear a nose ring…My fiancee doesn’t care either way, she just doesn’t want my lip ring gone!

one of the women i worked with before i moved to go to school was almost 40 and still had hers. three kids later, it looked odd cause the skin was stretched out. it like, i can’t describe it. but it looked awful, in my opinion.

my vote is either a) whenever you think “eh, i don’t see the point to this anymore” or b) when you start having kids.

I don’t think it’s really a matter of age.  Whenever you get tired of a piercing, take it out.  Doesn’t matter if you’re 18, 27 or 58.

@yogaqueen:  In my experience, no, it never goes away. The hole closes up but the scar still remains 🙁 I have had my ring out for almost ten years now, and it still looks like I have the piercing 🙁

Ummm I have mine at almost 44 and it still looks fine – I have a flat stomach and hubby loves it.

So I will bite my tongue on several of the comments here and say as long as you like it then keep it.
