I’m 32 and pregnant with my fourth child. So, I would say no, 32 is not old.

I had my first at 20 (not planned). I’m hoping to have my second at 24.

I’m aiming for 29 or 30.

And I thing whether or not 32 is older than average depends a lot on where you are.  In a small town in the Mid-West?  Yes.  In New York?  No.

First off, let me say that 32 is not old at all. I personally don’t want to be pushing out anymore babies past 35 because of the possible risk that exists but that is my personal choice. I honestly, do not think there is a “perfect” age to have kids. There are many factors that go into a decision like that.

Secondly, growing up all I kept telling my parents that I didn’t want to be married or have any children until I was at least 25. Well, I actually passed that a few years ago :). We will be welcoming our 1st baby at 28 (me) and 29 (hubs). I think that is the perfect time for us as we plan on building our family. I didn’t want age to be a factor as to why we stayed at a specific number of children.

My FH says he wants to be at least 30. I want to have a kid by the time I’m 30. Being only 4 months apart that’s not much of a window… but I guess we’re somewhat on the same page. I want at least 3 or 4 more years where I can be free enough without the responsibilities of a child. But I also want to be a young “hot mom”. (I didn’t mean for that to sound as superficial as it does… but you get the idea) Smile

We will hopefully be between the ages of 25 and 28 when we have our first child.  We’re waiting for my to finish my doctorate program and for us to buy a house.

Old? Absolutely not. We are TTC now and I am 30 am hopefully will have my first by 31 and I would love 2 and would like to have them by 35. There is no “perfect” age, for myself I wanted to live my 20’s and did not want to get married until I was at least 27, I did at 29. So for me and my Darling Husband, our timing is perfect for us.

I want to have our first kid when I’m 26 and our second one when I’m 28, but we’ll see how that works out as we know planned things usually never go as planned. LOL!

we decided we are going to stop not trying on my 29th birthday (im 26 1/2 right now). we wouldnt start really “trying” until my 30th birthday and want to have 2 kids that are no more than 3 years apart. we will see how this works out, but that’s the “plan” we both want to be married for at least two years before we even try to have kids, so my 29th bday puts us just under that two year mark 🙂

I’ve always planned (and still do) to have my first kid between 27 and 30. At least 27 so that I could be a bit more mature and enjoyed married life without kids and before 30 so that I could be young enough to run around after a kid. But 30 and 32 isn’t really a big difference. I’d say if you’re close to 40 and it’s your FIRST kid, that might be a little taxing from both health and energy perspectives. But you know what, women do it every day. So however old you are, if a kid is what you want and you have proper medical attention… Go for it.

@Derbybride, 32 is not old. 🙂

I will be 32 when we get married last year and we will probably wait a year til we move and get settled in a new city before we start trying. We’ll probably have our first when I am 34, maybe the second when I am 36, if things go as (tentatively) planned.

I’m with you noscare: between 27-30 sounds ideal for the first one. I’ll be 27 this year, so I’m thinking it’ll be at least 28 at this point.

34/35.  I want to be married at least 7-8 years before having kids.
