My dress had to be taken in, the lenth had to be shortened, they put stays in the flower on the back to keep it upright, they had to take the halter neck up, put in a new zipper, and place the loops and buttons for the bustle. My alterations came out to $425.

My dress needed to be hemmed and tucked $60, original bra pads taken out and new bra cups sewn in $25, loops and buttons for bustle $ 25 and taken-in the waist $45, hips and butt $40.

Cost $200 + tax.

I got bra cups sewn in, a one-button bustle (over, not under), and the torso was taken in in the back, requiring the removal and re-installation of the zipper and 6 decorative buttons. This totaled $103 at an independant seamstress.

I had a MAJOR hem because I am so short (the bottom of my dress also has layers of lace and tulle ruffles) and a one-point over bustle.  I spent $200 (which is expensive) at David’s Bridal.  I could have had it done cheaper privately, but there aren’t seamstresses in my area with wedding dress experience.  I want to say the hem was $130 and the bustle was $70.

I had my dress hemmed and bustled. It was free. Oh, and my bustle fastens with velcro (can’t be seen bc it’s all on the inside). It. is. FABULOUS.

I had a button and loop added to hide my bra. The sides taken in. A five point french bustle. The zipper removed and a corset put in for a grand total of $270.

I am getting mine done at the boutique I bought my dress at.  The typical cost is $375, but they took $150 off because the hem was measured when they originally ordered the dress (and quite honestly I think they screwed it up because it’s a bit short – hopefully that will work out).  So I will be having the bust taken in, cups sewn in, and the bustle.

My dress had to be hemmed and has lace on the bottom  so it had to be taken up from the waist, which also has some lace and detailing.  No idea how she’s pulling that one off.  I also have an 11 point bustle.  The hem was $140 and the bustle was $130 for a $270 total.

I just needed a hem and bustle.

FREE! My personal seamstress surprised me with that wedding gift last weekend 😀 She also said my dress was one of the easiest to do, bustlewise. She had horror stories to tell me about other dresses, so it made me feel pretty good about going for a simple dress (even if I’m not in love with it).

I’m short, so we lobbed about a foot off. DB quoted me “at least $95” for a hem job – and that was without looking at the dress or doing measurements.

The bustle was easy. She cut a small hole in the skirt’s seam, sewed in a little hook, and so you just pull it out and up and hook it into the bottom of the laceup corset and you’re done! My SIL’s bustle had color-coded threads and a diagram. I feel awesome!

Cups sewn in, elaborate bustle, and added crystals = $170.00

Thankfully I didn’t need a hem, the length was perfect with my shoes.

I paid $220 total.  I don’t know specifics as this was the max my seamstress charges.  I had the dress taken in about 4 sizes (it was a sample), hem, italian bustle added, bra loop added, and buttons added down the back.
