$165 for mine. I had it hemmed and a 3 point bustle with loops put in. I was honestly expecting it to be much more though since my dress had a lace overlay that needed to be hemmed.
About $300. An inch taken in, cups put in, monster of a hem (pickup skirt needed individual hems for each pick up), bustle, and sash added at the chest. My dress was only $450 so it was close!
a simple bustle, some added stitches to keep some pleats together & hem cost me about $150
Hem – $130
Bustle – $35 + $10 for extra loops
Bra cups – $35
I suppose it could get expensive if you want extensive alterations – boning, neckling alterations, extra beading etc. But for the basics, they’re not bad.
I haven’t had my alterations yet but I was quoted $60 for taking the dress in (it will need to be taken in a lot…probably an inch or two on each side) and adding a bustle. I am hoping it stays that low!
I thought Davids Bridal was expensive but I went into “The Wedding Seamstress” here in Denver today to get a free fitting/consultation and she was almost $200 bucks MORE! She charges for every individual organza ruffle that she has to hem, and charges seperately for the waist and the hips to be taken in. Last I checked, a side seam is a side seam yes? I have one other place to check before my first fitting with Davids on Aug 23..otherwise, its going to cost between $325-350. Highway robbery in its finest form!
I just got quoted $235 – $100 for hem, $120 for bust and waist area and $15 for bustle. I think that’s pretty good considering I got the dress 2 sizes too big!
I had a bustle, bra cups put in, a zipper fixed and the top of my lace dress cut and pretty much reshaped- for $80 right outside of Boston! Crazy great price. I was quoted $450 at bridal shops in the city. I went to the suburbs to an independent seamstress that worked out of her and she did INCREDIBLE work! Get some referrals, do some internet research, and get to an independent seamstress.
$300 for mine, included a hem, slight release in the hips, taking in slightly in the bust (there is a first for me!) and a bustle.
Reading that many of you ladies pay around $300 for alteratoin makes me feel less bad. My alteration is total $415 (not including tax). $220 for hem for 6 layers. Not sure if this is a lot or not. Side seam at top and hip is $100. Bustle is $95.
David’s bridal 9T3090 I went today to look for alterations and here is my break down.
Local Tailor…
Hem (shortened 2-3 inches, not sure how much) cost: $70
Top part taken in: $40
Bustle: $10
Total: 120
David’s bridal:
Hem Cost: $120
Top part taken in: $80
Bustle: $50
$250…
Guess who i went with. THe lady has great reviews so i am trusting her to alter my dress!
I went to an independent seamstress. $100 flat fee
Entire top taken in
Beading tightened
Pleats tacked down
Lace overlay tacked down
5-point bustle
I paid $240 when I ordered my dress to have it “custom made to length.” When the dress arrived it was about 5″ too long… to fix the length, take it on the top, and add a bustle the salon gave me the “discount rate” of an additional $440.
I am having them re-do the bustle… it’s hideous. Hopefully they aren’t going to charge extra for that as well!
I am having bra cups and 3 bustles put in for a total of $67.
