Any ring can be an engagement ring. Non diamond rings are becoming more popular options for engagement rings, so I am sure designers and sellers are just taking advanatage of that with the name. Just because it’s called an engagement ring doesn’t mean you can’t wear it as a non engagement ring.

“Engagement ring” does not equal a diamond ring. It can be any ring, it can be a piece of string.

Gemstone rings as engagement rings are becoming increasingly popular, so sellers are putting “engangement” in the title so that when people search, say, “emerald engagement ring,” their listing pops up. It doesn’t mean you can’t wear it as a right hand ring.

What everyone else said. All rings can be engagement rings, but all rings can also be right-hand rings.

penny1403 :  I think it’s just a search thing.  They label the ring as an engagement ring so that it shows up when people search for “engagement ring” .  That’s also the reason some things have long titles that look like random words, if you search any of those words it’ll pop up.

penny1403 :  Why not? For search engine optimization, it means more potential clicks.

When sellers upload their items for sale, they make sure to add extra possible “uses” to the title. It increases the likelihood of someone “finding their item”. So now it is included on almost all item descriptions and titles.

Someone can put just “ring” in the past and engagement wouldn’t pop up. I feel that now people include engagement in their description to get their item more out there. Hope that makes sense.

But yeah, any ring can be an engagement ring as well now. But that isn’t the reason they are ALL labeled that way.

You could look up “dog carrier” and it says cat and dog in the title/description. Just makes the item not restricted to that one thing.

if the seller names the ring i like ‘banana fart spaghetti marble’ i’m still gonna get it and wear it on whatever finger i please…

why is the naming thing stopping you? wear ‘engagement’ rings on all ten fingers. no one will know.

penny1403 :  So don’t wear it as an engagement ring…… get it sized for and wear it on your right hand. It doesn’t matter what it is called…..
