My fiance is from Tennessee, and I’m from Georgia, and we both have friends from North Carolina (where we met). We’re having the ceremony in Georgia, and so a lot of people are going to be travelling. I know it’s good etiquette to provide gifts for our travelling guests, so any ideas? 🙂 Thanks!

What about a selection of magazines they can choose from, for the ride/trip back home. Or some puzzle books(sodoku, word, etc). The only problem with this is I don’t know how you would distribute it, or if people would even help themselves to it.

That’s a good idea! Thanks 🙂

You could also work up a little booklet detailing good restaurants or things to do in town.

We are having the same situation. Getting married in S. Carolina. Guests coming from 5 different states.
We are doing welcome bag gifts and having the hotel put them in guest’s hotel rooms. They will include bottled water, granola bars/cookies, etc. (just little snacks), microwave popcorn, tylenol (for the morning after the reception ;), maps and brochures of the area (since no one’s ever been there), deck of cards (for their downtime at the hotel), small bottles of sunscreen(since our wedding’s on the beach) and some crossword/sudoko puzzles for their travel home. Oh and Handwritten Thank you notes thanking them for coming.
We were going to put all that in regular gift bags but I found some super cheap bags on http://www.Papermart.com that are about the same size as paper gift bags but are a washable/reusable material. They come in sets of 25 for less than $20.00. and come in many different sizes. I think they are around .76 cents a bag! We are getting these bags in our wedding colors and hoping guests will reuse them as little beach bags while they’re in S. Carolina. Hope this helps!

Here’s the bags we are getting on http://www.papermart.com to put the little “gifts” in for our out of town guests. Our wedding colors are hot pink and tangerine. They have other colors to choose from though.

i personally never expect a gift (and have rarely got one!) as a travelling guest. I guess I’d like some yummy chocolate bars and a bottle of water if I had to choose!

Not sure if it matches your colors but… My new favorite thing is old fashioned popcorn bags and boxes. We are going to fill them with popcorn and put them in our out of town bags. You can seal them with red envelope closures from any stationery store. Would be super cute with coca-cola in glass bottles with a bottle opener.
