I didn’t read through all the suggestions but I designed my ring out of diamonds from different people and the jeweler really helped me see my options. Go someone trusted and reasonably priced to see your options with that.

This one from Overstock has that vintage appeal but would be slightly over the $350 you expect to get from the old ring at $419. It is white sapphire in 10K white gold.

What are the specs. of the diamonds? I find it hard to believe that you could only get $350 for it. I feel like you could definitely get more!! Maybe try to sell it privately first, see if you can get more? If not, I would trade it in and get something totally different! ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe moissanite or white sapphire if you are worried about the budget. Then you can get a blingtastic look without the price tag!

You can find beautiful antique diamond rings in white gold for between $300-500 on ebay.  They may not be as blingy as new stuff, but they are unique and often have very good quality diamonds for lower prices than a comparable white sapphire or moissanite.

@HappilyEverAfter54:   Haha! right when I saw the ring you have, I pictured turning into that halo three stone! It would be perfect! And I love that ring! ๐Ÿ™‚

So shopping is basically my favorite thing.  Here are some of my favorites, all $350 or less, including shipping.  If you’re willing to go a little less traditional, one of these might work.  There are also gold eternity bands on sale for $100 or less.  Etsy might be another good place to go, especially if you’re ok with something thin and delicate ๐Ÿ™‚

“he doesn’t want me to wear it… it just looks a lot nicer than anything we can afford so I thought maybe we’d just use it”

So you’re willing to hurt your FI’s feelings just for the sake of having a pretty rock on your finger? If your Fiance doesn’t want you to wear it, then I don’t think you should. Get a cheap cz or white sapphire, or even a gemstone… but don’t upset your Fiance over a silly ring.
