for both weddings i was in i recieved pearls!  they were both lovely and i still wear them.

for my bm’s i got them monogrammed robes, shoes, and made them sashes to go w/ their dresses.

i think they liked the shoes and the robes!  i picked a neutral color for the shoes so they could wear them again.

@DuckEBee:  I might totally have to steal that idea!! I love it!

I’ve gotten robes, monogrammed pj pants ( which were pretty cute), and the day or jewlery

I am planning on giving them their jewelry for the day of, and something else(hopefully the mats if they aren’t too expensive!!)

I got my BMs Origami Owl lockets.  One of my BMs absolutely LOVES it and wears it everyday.  She’s bought like a million extra charms to wear in it and swaps them out all the time to coordinate with her outfits.

I have to admit, I was actually a little shocked.  I had picked 5-6 charms for each girl based on things I knew she liked or things we did together.  It took me a lot of time and effort to choose charms that I thought they’d like.  So at first, I was almost offended when I found out she was changing them all the time.  But now I’m over it.  It’s good she likes it so much!

I haven’t heard much feedback on how the other girls liked them, but they had a good reaction when I gave them to them on the wedding day.

I gave mine each a purse or tote (the print was the same, but the styles were different depending on the girl. Also they were quality…not something that would just fall apart), with their favorite bottle of wine, and flipflops to match their Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses in case their shoes hurt their feet.

I have recieved mostly jewelry for the wedding as a Bridesmaid or Best Man present (it’s always fake pearl stuff…so over it).

Things I’d like: Anything monogrammed or personalized (jewelry, sweatshirt, robe), alcohol, gift cards, some great neutral makeup (Naked basics would be good for many people), and being totally random but I think it would be neat to get a Tervis tumbler ha. Also a nice letter from the bride would be cool. Sometimes as a bridesmaid I feel like one of many as opposed to someone who has a real and close relationship to the bride.

The last wedding I was in we were gifted a cute robe.  I love it and still use it often.  I think it was a choice for part of a gift and will be doing robes for my maids as well.

I’ve also ordered makeup bags for each of my girls that I’m having monogramed (I know most Bees say monograming is a no-no, but I know all my girls are fans of monogramed stuff) with their initials.  I’ll get each of them a 3 month gift subscription to Birchbox & put a certificate or something in the makeup bag for it.

If you wanted to customize it to each one individually you could choose a different monthly “box” company gift subscription for each one.  There is a monthly subscription box for EVERYTHING & everyone!!  I’ve recently become kind of addicted to them and love getting them in the mail.  (I’m currently getting 4 different monthly boxes.)

I’m also going to get different pieces of statement jewelry that can be worn for the wedding, but not only for the wedding.  I’ll choose different pieces & do a tray of goodies that they can all choose from.  My cousin did this at her wedding and it went over well with all the girls.

I loved anything that I knew the bride actually thought about me when she chose it. It showed that she really cared that I was standing up with her. She purchased a gift as if it was my birthday.

I didn’t like the “assembly line” gifts… the gifts that are identical for all the bridesmaid. It’s rather difficult to be enthusiastic opening your gift when four other girls seated around you are opening the exact gift. To me, it seems like the bride just ordered X amount of the same gifts so she could check “bridesmaids’ gifts” off her to-do list.

Wedding day jewelry is fine if that is in addition to a personally selected gift not as the gift itself.

@Nickig_4:  among other things, i gave my bridesmaids the Kate Spade bridesmaid bangle.  i’ve seen 3 of them wear it again already in the 4 months since my wedding 🙂 i know that was a big hit! it reminds them of the wedding and the fun time we had, but in a super subtle way.

I think something personal to each one that isn’t wedding related.

@Nickig_4:  my FAVORITE im actually wearing right now….its a supper fuzzy robe and slipper set with my initials….we wore them to get ready and they are SOOOOO comfy and warm in this -5 degree weather…..

and i dont want to sound ungrateful but some of my least favorite gifts have had the brides wedding date tattood all over them! i have a super nice bag but i hate the ohhh is that your wedding date….crud….just my initials would have been great…you are my friend and i love you but i really dont want your wedding date all over everything, trust me i will remember the day!

ohhh on second thought the robe is my 2nd favorite….my favorite gift came after the wedding and it was a really nice framed black and white photo oif me and my bestie on her wedding day that came with a very sweet thank you note….it means alot to me and is displayed in our family room with the family pictures….

I’ve been a bridesmaid technically 2 times, but for my sister it was just me and buying for each other is fun! She got me a gorgeous robe, but I haven’t worn it yet… She also got me super cute Ted Baker flip flops that I love. Along with some bath supplies so I could sit and relax in the tub at the Bed and Breakfast for her wedding.

My other friend that I was a bridesmaid for… I’m sorry, her gift was terrible. It was a “pouch” from Thirty-one, and I’m sorry, I don’t like that stuff. And it was literally filled with items from the Target Travel aisle…  It was very impersonal and cheap. She also got us each a tumbler with our name and “Bridesmaid” which I never used again.

I really do like personalizing things, but I don’t like having anything Bridesmaid on something. You can’t ever use it again! I’m buying individual gifts for my girls. I’m getting an assortment of things for each girl. But I also have things that everyone will be getting. Like I got black hoodies and put their monogram on the front. I did have tumblers made, but they only have their name on it. Another fun thing I found were these mini flask keychains. They are functional and they have each girls name on it. I’ll get them a mini bottle of their favorite liquor to go along with it.

I usually get jewelry which is nice but I wanted to get my girls something a little different in addition in to jewelry. I got them a hanging organizer from vera bradley and filled it with items like advil, cotton balls, q tips, make up remover, polish remover, etc. I wanted it to be a Bridesmaid or Best Man survival kit of sorts. I got so many compliments on the gift becuase the girls still use the organizer. I was also able to order a print that was similar to my wedding colors which was an added bonus.

They are out of a lot of the sale colors but that is becuase it is near Christmas. They will restock before your wedding if this is something you would like to do. I love Vera but others may not care much about it. Smile
