sumshine.dawn:  Darling Husband and I were going to walk down to Star Wars related music too. But it didn’t go with our garden wedding. Lol.

I have had a lot of people shoot down my wild and  crazy ideas like:

– Carnival themed reception

– Bounce house

– Flash mob (this one is still in consideration actually).

sumshine.dawn:  I’m considering parts of the Jurassic p. Theme on guitar or violin… It’s so pretty! I love Hedwig’s theme, too! That’s my crazy idea for now…. Haven’t told anyone my plan!

For a little while there, I really wanted to end the reception with a huge fireworks show. But I realized the budget was going to be an issue, and the more I thought about it the more over the top the idea seemed. I also considered a horse and carriage get away vehicle, but none of the local companies will do that at our venue because the roads they would need to get to it wouldn’t fit their trailor.

Other ideas that would have been fun, but again I have restrictions with the budget: bouncy house, late night food truck, providing transportation for all rehearsal dinner guests, having the rehearsal dinner on a boat. I guess my ideas aren’t super out there.. unless you count how ambitious I plan on being with DIY. I’d have to get back to you on how all that turns out, though. Haha

Instead of having a DJ, we were considering hiring a traditional Bavarian folk band to do the music.  DH and I were going for a German beer garden feel with our wedding, and both of us have German ancestry and we knew that our families would love it.  The only reason why we didn’t go through with it is that our wedding was in the middle of Oktoberfest and it would have been impossible to find someone with availability.

We also came very close to having Belgian waffles for dessert instead of cake (there’s a food truck in our area that does gourmet waffles).  That also fell through when the waffle truck was already booked for that weekend.  Space was also an issue since we had already hired another food truck to do dinner.

Darling Husband really wanted to have the wedding party walk down to the Game of Thrones theme song. I considered it for a minute, and realized that only our friends would get it–and my family would be utterly confused at why we were walking to such a song.

Unfortunately for Darling Husband, I squashed that idea.

Things that crossed my mind but were shot down:

  • Coffee and donut bar (still considering the donuts)
  • Harry Potter theme in which I wear a Hermione Granger Yule Tide Ball style gown (in ivory) complete with magic wand favors and a candy bar with bertie bots every flavor beans, licorice wands, chocolate frogs, and other various goodies from HP.
  • Movie themed wedding
  • Renting the drive-in movie threatre and getting married there with concessions style dinner (popcorn, soda, slushees, fried foods, nachos, ice cream, candy, etc).

Our biggest “out there” idea was eloping in Alaska and flying out by helicopter to be married on a glacier, and now we’re doing just that in 3 short weeks! Sometimes the craziest ideas are the best ones 🙂
