So I know we are supposed to be candid and tell new mothers how gross and hard and scary things REALLY are, but I’m kind of tired of reading all the “10 disgusting things your body does after delivery” articles. I firmly believe there’s always a bright side, and while I appreciate, and have learned a lot, from the real-ness of those stories, there’s also a lot of benefits of pregnancy you don’t hear as often! I thought it might be fun to share what’s been going well in your pregnancy to lighten the mood a bit.
I have been EXTREMELY blessed to have an easy pregnancy so far, so I know I’ve got A different perspective than most. But even if you’re feeling gross every day or you havent had a speck of energy for months, maybe there’s something you think has been going okay, like great nails or a perfect model looking bump. Feel free to share! (I’m sorry if you’ve been 100% miserable and this makes you grumpy, this isn’t to rub it in your face at all. Just a chance to share some positives for other nervous first time moms and keep things light)
1. For me, I’d say the best benefit to pregnancy so far has been how sweet Darling Husband has become. I’m not even really showing yet but he’s been so helpful around the house, and as soon as I say something sounds good for dinner he happily will eat it (even if it’s something that’s not his favorite). He loves to satisfy my cravings, it’s pretty adorable and I think it makes him feel like he’s participating in growing the baby 😀
2. I’ve been hormonal but not in the weepy sense, it’s kind of hard to describe. It’s like I am super lovey and extra attached to my family and friends and animals. kind of like the optimistic caffeine high you get right after you down a cup of coffee, that makes you so happy with the world. I’ll look at my pets and get overwhelmed with how much I love them, and feel even more attached to Darling Husband than ever before. It’s funny to feel like this because I KNOW it’s from hormones, I can tell its not my usual sslf and it seriously feels like I’m bathing in oxytocin or something lol.
3. Pregnancy sex. Enough said.
4. My hair is thicker than ever! It’s awesome to pull it back into a ponytail and feel a giant handful rather than my usual soft fine hair.
Yes there are things that are annoying to deal with, it’s not all sunshine and roses over here. But at least I get to enjoy these things in the meantime haha

I think this is a great thread! Great things about this pregnancy…
its been pretty damn easy physically.
Darling Husband is sweeter than usual. I swear he reads my mind. He came home with a body pillow for me when I had been thinking I needed one after a night of tossing and turning.
Apparently my skin is glowing. I do not feel like it is but I’ve had people tell me it is.
All of the crazy movements I feel from little man

The best part is feeling all the movments and knowing you are growing a human inside you!! Holding your little one after birth is a pretty remarkable feeling as well.

I have been ‘lucky’ with a pretty symptomless pregnancy, until now when some of the physical impacts are starting.
My nails are horrible, but my hair isn’t falling out in the clumps it used to. I have thick curly and always knotty hair. It’s been a bliss to comb after a shower these days.
The best thing by far has been feeling and now SEEING her move, and the look on my husbands face when he gets to feel and see her too.

I’m only 12+5, I can’t WAIT till I can feel the baby roll around in there 🙂
i already feel so womanly and powerful and sexy because of this awesome ability to make a person!

I’m 12+ 5 today too and needed this as I’m feeling so super sorry for myself today.
my wisdom teeth have just decided to make an appearance and I’m in agony and there’s not much I can do about it painkiller wise so I’ve been a right grouch.
Generally though i feel so blessed – I guess I’ve had an easy pregnancy. A few weeks of exhaustion and a couple of days of mild nausea and I’m already starting to feel much more full of life.
My hair and nails look great, skin is terrible, and I’ve got the starting of a cute bump with no other weight gain as of yet:
I have my scan in 2 days and am hoping to be able to announce to the world on the weekend that weve mad a beautiful healthy baby but most of all I am so excited to see my family in two weeks, I live on the other side of the world and haven’t seen them for 18 months and the thought of it is making me so emotional in such a lovely way!

Equine_Breeder: I’m 36 weeks and entering the uncomfortable phase where it’s easy to complain (and I do sometimes). What I LOVE:
-That my body is able to grow our son. I miscarried our first and worried that I wouldn’t be able to.
-Feeling and seeing him move and kick even when it’s my ribs or cervix lol.
-How special this time feels both for me alone and for us as a couple. I get the honor of carrying him and feeling him. For us as a couple, this is our last month alone as a couple. It’s been an awesome experience to know we created this baby together and what we’re heading into.
-Pregnancy sex! Even at this stage where everything is swollen and I can’t see my goods anymore.

Love this! I’m 6 weeks pregnant (I know, so early) but haven’t had ANY nausea whatsoever, or any symptoms other than sore boobs, but Darling Husband and my mom and sisters look at me like I’m a walking miracle LOL, they want to do everything for me even at this early stage so I’m not complaining!!!!

number one is seeing how attentive my husband has become. my pregnancy is high risk and he is so concerned with me over doing things and not resting. He’s rearranged or declined events of they were too close together and I wouldnt be able to rest. He encourages me to rest and nap whenever I can. Often he’ll send me to bed for a nap before we are supposed to be somewhere, only to let me over sleep causing us to be late because he couldn’t bare to wake me. He’s never once made me feel bad for not cooking dinner or going to bed at 7. I feel soooo lazy but at the same time I know growing multiple babies is hard on the body so I’m trying to cut myself slack. Thankfully he’s very supportive.

Boobs, amazing hair and my husband will make me a homemade strawberry milkshake at 10 pm without complaining.

I have had horrible morning sickness from week 5 (12 weeks 3 days today with twins) so finding the good parts of pregnancy hasn’t been easy! But I must say my husband has been amazing, driving me to 3 different stores just to get lime sherbert that I was craving, rubbing my feet after work when they are sore, making me dinner every night even if after he goes through all the work I eat two bites! My boobs, hair, nails and skin are all fabulous! I’m getting the cutest baby bump which I love to pieces! And seeing our babies grow on the ultrasound (we’ve already had 3 ultrasounds due to it being multiples!). I’m looking forward to the next few weeks when I am told my morning sickness should fade!

People giving me their seat on the subway mwahahaha best thing EVER!
My boobs and hair are fabulous!
I don’t know what crack you pregnancy sex people are on though, LOL. Does no one else have the horrible post-O uterine cramping?! Hahaha, oh well.
