@musician32992: I’m petite (110lbs and 5’3) and had dropped waist:

I love:

A-Line dresses

Subtle sashes (ones that aren’t obnoxious colors or really thick)

Lace, especially around the bodice

I dislike:

One-shoulder dresses

Mermaid dresses

Long-sleeved dresses (I know those are a little more dated, but still)

love
– well done sweetheart necklines
– lace
– dresses that FIT
– flow, movement

hate
– straight across and halters
– pickups
– most shiny satin
– see through bodices
– hi-lo (only for wedding dresses)
– Pnina Tornai
– most colored details
– that awful one of a kind silver hi-lo Pnina abomination that chick on SYTTD HAD to have (wasn’t there another episode with a gold one, too?)
– straight sheath dresses with no movement
– slits
– intricate beading up top and nothing on the skirt (where the beading stops in a straight band at the hips)
– basque waists
– big, crazy ballgowns (this and this are basically my nightmare)

hate on me, but not on others
– mermaid
– ballgown
– fit and flare
– lots of beading

@mstellah:  Gah, your dress is amazing. I could not handle something like that (hence my hate on me, but not on others list)!

Honestly, I’m so picky with dresses, and there are tons of details that I don’t like that I’m sure look great on other people.

I like:

1) Sweetheart necklines – This is the only neckline I’m considering for my dress.  I just have yet to find any other neckline that I like on a wedding gown.

2) Mermaid or fit and flare styles – I just love the way these skirts look.  And they aren’t that difficult to move around in.  My grad gown was a mermaid and I didn’t have a single problem with movement in about 9 hours of wearing it.

3) Lace – I’m obsessed with lace dresses, especially mermaid ones with buttons up the back.  Perfection.

I hate:

1) Corset backs – Just do not appeal to me at all.  I’ve never seen a corset back that didn’t look cheap to me.  Add a sheer bodice, and you have my worst nightmare of a wedding dress

2) A-line dresses – I think if you’re going for a full skirt, then just commit to the full ball gown, don’t half-ass it with an A-line.

3) White shoes – Even in a stiletto, white shoes still scream “old lady” to me.  I’m getting married in glittery navy blue slingbacks.  Love the colored shoe trend.

@musician32992:  Cap sleeves would also be beautiful! I just like long sleeves, although the neckline is a little too much even for me. Hahha. 🙂

Love:

  • Lace lace lace lace lace!! OMG I just love it way too much.  Its unhealthy.  Since wedding planning, I have actually started buying other lace clothing.
  • I love a keyhole back with little cap sleeves (didn’t get it because when I showed some examples/fishing to the Fiance he said it looked like she had unerwear on her shoulders…)
  • Sweetheart necklines for those who can pull them off. (I’m modest so I got a modified sweetheart because my DD’s don’t nee to make an appearance!)

Don’t Love:

  • Satin/taffeta/silk/charmeuse/any shiny fabric.  No offense!! I’m just from the south, I love it all matte!!
  • Bows, my dress has a sash but I’m tying it like a tie in the back, no bow.
  • Extreme mermaid style – like hugging tight to the knee then going straight out into frills.  Maybe just frilly frilly poofy skirts in general (fit and flare and A line all the way for me!)
