– lace/tulle

– that unstructured lace neckline where it looks all uneven (can’t remember what it’s called but I love how it looks so romantic with a sweetheart neckline)

– Zipper/button on the back

– dresses that are done up with a corset

– shiny satin

– pick ups!

– veils with crystals sewn all over the front of it, or too much lace.

@Chlso823:  Your response was interesting.  You said you love fit and flare, but hate trumpet or mermaid?  Can you give us more detail?  I thought a trumpet dress was another term for fit and flare?

1. Chiffon/flowy skirts

2. Gold Tops

3. Long Lace Sleeves

Obv, I would not want my dress to have a gold top and lace sleeves, but I think either could work with a chiffon bottom.

Also really digging lace ruffle skirts as long as they don’t have a lot of “poof”.

1. Poof

2. Corset ties

3. Feathers. YUCK!

I can’t count.

1. Interesting back features e.g. keyhole, lace

2. Necklines that aren’t strapless, for variety

3. Genuinely asymetrical one-shoulder gowns where the neckline is diagonal/sweeping upwards, especially on brides with smaller boobs.

4. Draping/ruching

5. Colour. Any colour so long as it suits the bride, and not just in a sash either.

1. Straight-across necklines (unless you are small breasted)

2. Pick-ups

3. One-shoulder gowns that look like a normal neckline with one strap missing

4. Drastic mermaids that flare out a lot below the knee

5. “Shiny, shiny…”

Empire waist

Cap sleeves

Most pick ups (but I love the pickups on Alfred Angelo 206, so I guess I like tulle pick ups)

Bright coloured wedding dresses

I had to do 4 each!

-Natural waistline.

-low cut backs. so sexy!

– not bright white- ivory, shampagne, BLUSH!!

-Pnina Tornai hooker dresses- what will those women think in 20 years?!
-Shiny material. (on the FULL dress)
-Straight across neckline.

– empire waist. doesn’t flatter hardly any body shape

@vmec:  That dropped waist looks GREAT on you!! I think it depends on the body and style of the dress when people say they “hate” certain styles.

-colored accents or colored dresses (and I don’t mean sashes or crinolines, I mean a brightly colored dress on the right bride)

-1950s-styled ballgowns

-elaborate detailing

-very simple dresses

-one-shouldered dresses

-colored crinolines (go big or go home, I say)

I love

1. lace , all kinds and the more the better

2. random floral details esp if made out of chiffon

3. simplicity. sometimes the more simple the more beautiful imho

I dislike:

1. BOWS unless they are not bowtie shaped style, then they are acceptable…sort of lol

2. pick ups on a skirt

3. too much bling on a dress ( i love bling, but some gowns are way too over the top IMHO)

I guess a lot of you wouldn’t like my dress lol. It’s got a pickup skirt 🙂

I love:

1. pickup skirts (I like these because then bustles look natural with the skirt. Otherwise, to me, they just don’t)

2. sweetheart necklines

3. strapless dresses

I dislike:

1. sleeves

2. long trains

3. any style of dress that is tight around the knees and then flares or stays tight

Some of these I dislike on everyone, others I dislike on myself. Many more than three!

– silk tulle

– French lace (Chantilly, Alencon etc)

– true waist, 1950s-silhouette ball gowns

– button backs

– crystal sashes

– delicate illusion lace necklines, where the top is/appears to be part of the dress

– Fluid, 1930s-glamour gowns that skim the figure (not on me)

– Gorgeous back detail – lace, beading (like Jenny Packham’s gowns)

– pick-ups

– corset lacing

– bridal separates (corset plus ball gown skirt type ensembles a la Monique Lhuillier)

– extreme mermaid/fishtail silhouettes that a bride has to hobble to get around in

– all-over ‘mummified’ ruching

– crumbcatchers unless you’re teeny up top

– ruffles where the edge of the ruffle appears to be overlocked

– toilet paper dresses (Vera Wang Diana-esque ones)

– dresses that inexplicably have design details pointing suggestively to certain parts of the anatomy (aka, that infamous J’Aton Couture dress worn by Bec Twigley)

– empire lines unless you’re pregnant, or built like a baby giraffe

– high neckliness, unless you have a swan-like neck

– exposed corsetry that looks like lingerie

– cumberbund waistbands

– mullet dresses

– feathers

– super-shiny satin, especially ruched satin

– stiff tulle

– Russian netting

– Mantilla veils

– ombre gowns

– boleros
