I could be wrong but I think its the first letter of the brides first name and the first letter of the grooms first name. I believe to symbolize unity.
Any way, I am sure one of the veteran bees could correct me if I am wrong.
What are they used for?
Anything and everything! To put on invitations, envelopes, programs, favors, napkins, dance floor gobo, thank you notes, etc.
Personally, I think it gives a unifying theme to the wedding since it goes on different wedding items like the: invitations, menus, isle runner, signage, favors…and it is the first showing of you as a couple since your initials are together for the “first time”.
Mongram = branding your wedding/home/etc.
