I’m DIYing my veil, whether I use the lace shawl I’m knitting with cobweb weight yarn as my veil, or just with some tulle and lace.  I’m also planning to DIY the sash for my dress, if I choose to have a sash (still need to find a dress!) since I really love beading and sequining on fabric.

I’m also hoping to get flowers from Sam’s or Costco and make all of the flowers:  bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, reception centerpieces.

I’ve been focusing on booking my big vendors, and I haven’t thought about the details too much yet, so I’m not sure what else I’ll do myself.  I’m sure there will be more DIY involved than what I’ve listed, though.  I’ve also toyed with the idea of customized soaps as favors (I’m a soapmaker).

@sweet5k: homemade jam would be such an awesome favor!

@misschickpea:  Thanks 🙂 I ordered mine from fiftyflowers.com and got 72 stems of peony roses (metropole), 40 stems of spray roses, 3 bunches of hypericum berries, I also purchased long stem roses (24) and alstroemeria (2 bunches) from Costco.  I ordered them to arrive 2 days before my event, and didn’t refrigerate any of my flowers (although I kept them in the coolest part of my house).  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it.

@angela85:  Love the bouquet!

Love seeing what everyone else is diy-ing, I thought I was the only one who was a diy nut!

Things we’re diy-ing:

  • my bouquet- I’m making a brooch bouquet, and I have almost all my brooches (yay!)
  • our std banner for engagement pictures
  • the bags for our popcorn/candybar
  • back-drop for our cake topper
  • bridesmaid’s hangers
  • mr. right and mrs. always right signs for bride/groom chairs
  • signs for the photobooth, wedding, and reception
  • birdhouses for our centerpieces
  • doors for the aisle- I took 2 old house doors and I’m distressing them to look more vintage-y

@mrsedwardslpn:  I can take pictures of the bouquet as soon as I start putting it together, it should be within the next few weeks!

@mrsedwardslpn:  Thank you, my pocketbook is lighter but at least I don’t have to worry about Cousin snark whispering to her husband that my DIY decor is hideous LOL
