We have been taking trips together for the past 3 years. We may get each other a little “surprise” just because but we’d rather spend money on trips and experiences. Last year we went to a wine swirl which was so much fun and I think we’re doing that again this year!

Ooh I just checked and it’s a Friday! My husband’s only day off. So I’ll probably leave work early, we will cook a delicious dinner and have some expensive wine and stay in. We don’t do gifts, and we’re on a diet (well supposed to be!) so probably no chocolate lol.

Our valentines tradition is fried chicken haha. We eat pretty well most of the year so we really look forward to it, and it avoids most of the high cost holiday-related options. We don’t give each other gifts for anything typically, unless it’s a joint anniversary gift, but we will usually give cards and sometimes he gets me chocolate. Then he will get me flowers a week or so later because he refuses to pay double for valentines flowers 😂 (clearly quite the romantic).

We’re doing a combo Valentines Day/(hopefully) celebrating me finishing my masters degree weekend trip to Niagara Falls the weekend after Valentines Day. We’ve been trying to plan a trip there for months now, but we just haven’t had the time since I’m working on schoolwork on weekends. But my term ends on January 31, and I find out if I passed everything by February 20th. So we’re finally doing it!

I’m working late this year so nothing ! LOL. We normally don’t go out to dinner anyway due  to the crowds. life IS short as a PP said so I would rather do romantic things when its not a commercial holiday like this year going to Paris during a random week in March!

We never go out on Valentine’s Day or exchange gifts. I get a bottle of champagne and my husband cooks a fancy dinner at home (he’s an excellent cook) and we maybe find something to watch on Netflix.

We usually don’t do anything too special.  I prefer to not go out to eat on the big occasion days when everyone goes out to eat (Valentines Day, Mothers Day, etc) as the restaurants tend to be more crowded and it feels like they try and rush you through to turn the tables faster.

We usually do something like watch a movie, have pizza delivered, and maybe open a nice bottle of wine.

It does! I’m originally from Ontario, but live in Alberta. With oil prices crashing a lot of Albertans are getting quite isolationist and we’re seeing suggestions from a small minority of right-wing individuals about separating from Canada.

My boyfriend and I are both liberal, but his aunt and uncle are quite conservative (though not at separatist level). He likes to troll them when we visit, saying things like he’ll have me deported to Ontario once we can build a wall, and Alberta needs more “full ‘Bertans”.

My boyfriend also loves trucker hats, has a giant hat tree, and collects all sorts of weird ones he finds at gas stations. I found a trucker hat that has the shape of the province Alberta on it and says ” ‘Berta”. I think he’ll love it/find it hilarious.

Valentine’s Day is very important to us. We go out to dinner, get each other flowers and something for the both of us like massage oils, or lingerie.

Usually my husband buys flowers and a gift for me and we do a dinner out at a new restaurant in CBD (we both work in the city so there’s always something new popping up!). My husband is so hard to buy for so usually I just write him a nice card but This year I’m going to surprise him with a weekend away in the country and tickets to see one of his favourite movies at an outdoor open air cinema that’s on that weekend while we’re visiting. Can’t wait to see his reaction when he realises I’ve gotten him a present this year!
