Fiance and I are eating less portions and trying to make food in a healthier alternative way.  We haven’t had fast food in about a month now.  No snacks either except a little splurge here and there.  FI cut out soda all together and is doing great with drinking only water.  I’ve always drank water so that’s easy for me.

We started hitting the gym again so we’re pretty excited about that.  We are working out 5-6 times a week for at least 45-60 minutes.  We do both cardio and weights.  

I am going to make an appointment with the doctors soon to get my thyroid checked out though.  I stopped going to the gym awhile back because I became discouraged with absolutely no progress in WW and working out.  I do believe I have hypothyroidism because of other symptoms as well.

I’m Catholic too – gave up chocolate and soda for Lent.  My two serious vices since I gave up smoking. I’m doing the Insantiy workout and we went for a hike today.  I’m also taking my lunch to work and kind of watching my calorie intake.

Soda and chocolate are really my bad habits though.  I’ve actually dropped six pounds, but I want to be healthy, not skinny.

I’m going to echo what others have said: basic diet and exercise. It is slow going but much healthier than any fad diets. Fiance and I have had to learn to make lifestyle changes not just temporary changes.

We started out by switching to all wheat/whole grains instead of white breads, pastas, flours. We both cut out soda and fried foods. We go out to eat maybe 1/week. I can’t keep any snacks in my house because I love sweets! I try to keep lots of fruit on hand, greek yogurt, and low fat string cheese. We also both take our lunches to work so we have something healthy to eat. 

Find something that doesn’t feel like exercise! We started biking last spring and it has helped a whole lot. Yesterday we rode 10 miles and it felt like nothing! I’ve also done the Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred with good results, I need to do that again before the wedding, guess I should start that soon haha! 

With all that being said I haven’t kept count of pounds but I’ve gone from a size 16 to a juniors size 13 since the beginning of last summer. Not a huge accomplishment but I also didn’t burn out!

I just started walking for a half hour a day. Even that little bit of activity helped me feel less sluggish and less inclined to eat a ton. I would start there.
