My hair is long, natural and *whispers* heat damaged. I’ve been wearing it in weaves and tree braids to hide my stringy ends, and Fiance has never seen my real hair except in pictures. He says he doesn’t want me to wear weave for the wedding, but men are so clueless. You want me to go…to the Caribbean…for a week…with my real hair…and still look presentable on Day 6 for the wedding? Ok.

We’re going on vacay in the caribbean next month and he has requested that I wear my real hair. I’m hoping to use this time to demonstrate to him that a caribbean vacay with a woman with my particular hair woes will be no fun at all. On our last vacay, we went swimming everyday. Straight from beach, to shower, to nightclub. Not if I have my real hair out. That’s an hour plus of styling (not including drying time) after each time I get wet. Smh.

This is me:

I am also a natural. Hair blowed out and rolled with flexi rods

My hair is on the fine side so I want to have a little hair added and have the style below.

I actually just had my hair done over the weekend. I straightened out and stylist curled. She said curls will be tighter day-of.

To all my natural hair ladies, if you are going on your honeymoon immediately after your wedding I would suggest getting a weave or wearing it natural.  If you straighten your hair for your wedding day and then go on your honeymoon and get it wet that will be a waste.  At least for me.

Here in NYC  to straighten and style your hair you are looking at $125 and up depending on how much hair you have.

Just something to think about

sooo…only crazy people do a big chop before their wedding, right? Hi. My name is Overjoyed and I’m a crazy person. I experienced some horrible heat damage from a flat-iron about 18 months ago and I’ve been trying to grow it out (and periodically mini-trim) ever since. I did pretty well as I grew and retained about 6 additional inches in that time. But having two different textures, UGH it just felt like I was transitioning all over again. I finally decided to lop off the remaining straight ends today. Getting a weave tonight and will pretty much keep it in protective styles until (and frankly during and after) the wedding. FH says he wants to see my real hair (he never has) and he will…eventually. Lol. This morning my hair was to my armpits and tonight, it’s to my collarbone. I’ll live.

I am mixed but have very curly and frizzy hair. The brazillian blowout works wonders for me. It does not make my hair straught but just much more manageable and easier to work with. Im not sure if this was mentiones because I did not read all the comments but I definetly recomennd it

I plan on doing my hair in an updo with barrel curls with a side part and a small swoop (because hair in my face irritates me). I’m wearing a tiara and long veil with this do.

@Asia:  I hope it’s going to turn out that way.

Is anyone doing a hair trial or just trusting your regualar hairdresser (if you have one) to do it the day of? Have any of you Bees picked who’s doing it yet? I’m still researching… I have 3 ppl in mind. A girl who I heard was really good (still trying to get her number from a friend), my FI’s aunt who is a retired beautician and really just trims and wraps my hair, and a past beautician I used to see who is usually always late but she is damn good and I trust her with my hair (I’m very funny with my hair).
