Ive known a fair mix, ive known ladies that ditched the middle, added maiden name to the middle, hyphenated, and even not ditching any of their original names and just not adding the husbands. Everyonebhas a reason for their choice.  I dropped my maiden name because I love my middle name; if I dropit it will be gone completely, unlike my maiden name where . I have siblings and cousins to continue it on. Something thay I know has gotten popular is giving ones kids their maiden name as a middle name.

I love my first and middle name but have no connection at all to my maiden name (it’s my dad’s. Haven’t spoken to him in 35 years) So I’m actually really looking forward to ditching my maiden name and taking FI’s last name

Well I didn’t have a middle name so I made my maiden name my middle name.  But I would say I’ve seen a mix.  I know ladies who completely dropped their maiden, some have replaced their middle name with their maiden and some have taken it as a second middle name.  And then there is always the option of not changing your name at all.

I dropped my middle name and used my maiden name as my ‘new’ middle name. That way, getting married is an extension of myself and not erasing who I was; I can still keep my old identity and pair it with the new one, if that makes sense. ๐Ÿ™‚

I absolutely loved my middle name but couldn’t imagine dropping my last name.  I wasn’t ready to keep all of them so I dropped the middle.  I’m hoping to pass it down to a little one!!

I’m getting rid of my current middle name and using my maiden name instead. I’m kind of attached to it, so I don’t want to let it go completely.

I decided to keep my first and middle name. I changed my last name from my maiden name to my DH’s last name. I didn’t get hung up on the sentiment of my maiden name…

@wubewe:  I have two middle names – my original middle name and now my old last name.  I usually initial R.C. if it asks for a middle initial.  So, yes I have four names total now.

I was planning to get rid of the middle name all together and wanted my last name to be there, but my mom guilted me so much talking about all the time she put into thinking of my name and was sad I was loosing it.  I didn’t want to get rid of my maiden name or hyphenate, so that’s why I have two middle names.

Keeping my middle name and ditching my maiden. Fiance and I have similar last names, so to hyphenate them would be weird. Plus, I like my middle name. ^_^
