DH only likes gifts if he can pick them out himself. It has to be the exact one he wants and usually something pricey. His mom still doesn’t get it and every year buys him a zillion things he doesn’t open or ever use. This year I know he wants something for his new BMW. I don’t know, intake something or exhaust? I have no clue, lol so he will buy it himself like usual. I will have to give him a couple hundred dollar limit though or he will seriously spend like a grand. We usually go all out on our daughter, I’m estimating about $500 for her so he needs to learn he’s not the child and make do with less.

I am a crazy christmas lady too! I started picking stuff up around the beginning of October for my son. As for my Fiance and I we are only doing stockings and maybe something small (you actually gave me an idea about a bottle of liquar) .. and we are putting 500$ each into our wedding fund. It kinda makes me sad since I love Christmas shopping, ill probably end up spending too much on my son to make up for it lol

@Boston Bee Is there a reason why you’re going with 7 gifts? Just wondering… since Chanukah is 8 days.

I don’t know! Just little things I suppose. I know he wants a martini shaker and I think I’ll hunt around for some ironman or marvel shot glasses. I usually get more ideas closer to Christmas 🙂

I’m terrible and already gave him 3 of his gifts!! An enormous “Mr. Grumpy” mug, Duff pajama bottoms (to match his infamous Duff beer slippers), and a tiger striped onesie jammies for grown ups complete with a hood, ears, paws, haha (I had thought about a “big cat rescue adoption” box but figured he’d get more use and fun out of the jammies). And this is the surprise that’s still on the way so he can actually open something on Christmas!

My SO is obsessed with the Dinosaur webcomic series.  So I bought him a dinosaur comic book personalized for him.  It is signed by the artist, and he drew one of the dino’s wearing a panda hat (which is an inside joke between us).  I was so excited about it, I called him up once it came in the mail and told him, and I e-mailed him a picture of it! I bet I’ll give it to him early, I hate waiting when I’m excited about stuff.  I will get him some other stuff too, but I’m not sure yet, more than likely he will get some clothes (boring, I know), he never shops for himself and really needs some.

@hana.schmitt  I would have a very happy man if I bought this.  Isn’t thinkgeek such a fun website?

I bought him a new iphone. He still has the 3 from like 2 years ago and it’s been giving him a hard time lately, so he really needs a new one. He also finally cracked the screen (which he’s never done before), so he really deserves it.

Other than that, I’ll just be trying to find stocking stuffers.

@T-Rex Love it! I never got a chance to have fun decorating with ThinkGeek (my old roomie wasn’t having it) but the DH?! Can’t wait! And I think they’ll help me buy DH awesome Trekkie gifts for years! Surprising him when we get the kitchen in order with all the Star Trek themed goodies (S&P shakers, cookie jar, bottle opener, pizza cutter, hehe)

Here’s what my husband’s getting this year:

1) a new watch (I’m splurging a bit on this because I know its something he’ll have for many years and the poor man hasn’t had a new watch since high school!!)

2) a new stand bag for his golf clubs

3) A couple Disney Blu-ray DVDs (we’re collecting the classics as they come out on Blu-ray)

4) A couple new shirts

5) a bunch of little stuff for his stocking (socks, air freshener for his car, chapstick, etc.)

We don’t ever set a $ amount for Christmas gifts… it varies every year. This year I know I’ll spend more $ on him than I normally do (and then he will on me) because of the watch. A couple years ago it was the opposite because I really wanted a nice set of pearl earrings/necklace. I just love coming up with surprise presents though!!

He’s getting:

(2) A new travel mug to go with the Keurig

(3) Some new casual clothes

(4) All new workout clothes,a great workout/weight lifting book, new earbuds so he can stop stealing mine (gross!)

(5) The complete boxed set of all 8 Harry Potter movies

(6) Various and sundry stocking stuffers

I’m really sad b/c I don’t work and although we share an account, all the money made comes from him, so really he’d be buying his own christmas presents, if that makes sense. I told him not to get me anything this year. We’re getting a nice bookshelf from my parents that we both really wanted, so that’s enough for us 🙂 Last year I had a job and I saved up for months and bought us a new queen size mattress, so I’m feeling kinda bummed about my lack of funds this year. He doesn’t care. I tell myself that Christmas isn’t about presents (but they’re so much fun!).
