Gift cards.  It’s actually what I’m getting everyone this year – it guarantees that everyone gets what they want!

We’re trying to be a bit restrained this year with the wedding coming up and all, but we’ll be paying for these together.

So far, we’re doing: Top Golf membership for FI’s dad, framed engagement photos for his mom (she always complains she has no photos of us since we started dating in a digital world). There needs to be something else, just not sure what yet!

His sister and Brother-In-Law: probably a “date night” package including movie tickets, restaurant gift card and a voucher for us to watch their little boy.

Nephew gets an adjustable tricycle (goes from rocker to mom/dad push to pedal. So great. And books, kids always get books from me.

For my mom: ?? She’s ususally easy but I’m not sure this year! Probably an Amazon gift card (she loves her Kindle Fire), framed engagement photos, and…??

Ugh, we’re having such a hard time this year!

We tend to buy for our own family members, but I do help him in the process. We got his sisters a robe and a Sephora gift card. His mom gets a gift card to her favorite restaurant and a nice sign we saw at Hobby Lobby for her to put in her house. Step dad gets a hardware store gift card and we got his dad a blueray player.

Darling Husband and I bought his brother and dad watch boxes with their initials engraved on them. For his mom, we had someone make an ornament that looks exactly like their family dog, who is the mom’s baby and doesn’t have much time left.

We bought my dad and brother underwear. Yeeeeeeah I’m not joking. They’re both obsessed (as is DH) with this certain brand of underwear called MeUndies. Apparently they are like God’s gift to men. Both my dad and my brother contacted me totally unprompted and requested them as Christmas gifts. Ooookay. My sister is a total Doctor Who fanatic so she got assorted items from us, and my mom just started school to get her masters in theology, so we got her a huge pretty bag with her initial embroidered on it to contain all her books/papers/etc.

This is our first Christmas together and engaged (we started dating last year, right before xmas)

His family only does gifts for the kids as does mine, we both come from large families (I am youngest of 5 and he’s 1 of 4 kids…together our families have 29 people in immediate family alone). Money aside, it gets difficult to buy for so many people and actually be thoughtful about it.

We will give jointly to neices/nephews – he’ll shop for his side & me for my side and put each others names. He has two nephews and a neice and I have 5 nephews and 1 neice. We each have a sis-in-law pregnant so shortly after we’re married we will together have 11 nieces and nephews!

I’m not sure what I’m getting my dad, sometimes I get him something alone, sometimes with siblings. He didn’t mention getting his parents anything so I won’t press it

This is our first year buying jointly as well. It’s a huge change. We got his mom and her husband a wooden sign that says their last name ( her new name) and the year because they are newly married. We’re stuck on his dad and his partner. We got his grandparents the same wood sign with their name on it and their wedding year (est 1962) (signs from etsy). We got his brother some techy thing that I don’t understand… Fi was in charge of that one.  Cousins we got gift cards and a small gift… ie his female cousin likes nautical stuff and home decor…we got her a framed painting of a sea turtle.

we are engaged. I’m getting his parents something they can use for the house. This is our first Christmas as an engaged couple, so that’s my gift to his parents.

andielle:  It’s so much easier now that all gifts are combined! We got Father-In-Law a jersey of the sports team that he likes, Mother-In-Law a gift certificate to a nail salon, SIL a gift certificate to a salon, and Brother-In-Law a gift card and a pair of sneakers.

Last Christmas I bought Future Mother-In-Law a pretty chenille throw blanket from Macy’s to match her new living room set. Fiance wanted to buy her couch for her but I think she had already in the end. We didn’t do much, the adults in his family prefer to do stockings with small practical little things. They gave us lotions and candy, fuzzy socks, little things.

I think this year is a little different because we’re officially tying the knot soon and also I don’t think my Future Mother-In-Law expected me to get her the nice blanket so she’s trying for more of a gift this year than stocking. She was going to buy a new bed frame for us but we bought it already.

I have got her a nice Tory Birch set of lotion and perfume this year, hopefully she likes it.

Well, hubby and I have been together for 17 years so…. I usually just buy all the gifts from us.  For his brother (my bil) I got him a wireless blutooth speaker phone thing that hubby actually loves and and now wants one for himself.  I got bil’s wife (hubby’s sil) a huge makeup gift set with 3 eyeshadow pallettes, 2 lip sticks, lipgloss, eyeliner and lip pencil.

For my fil I am getting him a gift set of personalized handkerchieves.  He is always so hard to shop for every year which is why I haven’t gotten his gift yet but this idea came to me recently.  He even asked me the other day if I have one on hand so I know he needs them.  And I might also get him the Addidas aftershave.

My mil is getting facial and body creams.

And for hubby’s niece, I got her a maxi dress, a Frozen book and a Frozen paint by number kit.  She’s 7.  We also buy for her sister and I got her a pair of jeans shorts, a cute high/low shirt and a nice neon colored wallet (she’s 14).

I usually get his parents one combined gift. It’s taken me a few years, but I’ve finally figured out what kind of gifts his mom will love. Last year I gave them a monogrammed blanket, this year they’re getting a nice bottle of champagne and a tree ornament from Tiffany.

I had a watercolor portrait of his parents’ dog painted by an artist on Etsy for his mom (she’s obsessed with dogs and paintings of them), I got his dad all-access admission to the Spy Museum (he’s obsessed with espionage), and I bought his brother this awesome, custom made, wooden bow tie (made out of maple wood) from a company I saw on Shark Tank, lol.

My SO’s family doesn’t celebrate. We simply sent seasonal cards out to everyone on his side and my side.

I got my mom two antique glass elephant sculptures. One for Christmas Day and one for when we announce our engagement.

I got my father a wood wall art thing shaped like the state we live in that holds beer bottle caps. He had a “man lounge” so it’ll fit his theme…and he likes beer.

One sister I got a giraffe painting because that’s her thing.

Other sister I got a movie theater card because she’s always happy to receive one and goes with friends a lot.

Sticking to small gifts this year. Fiancé and I aren’t gifting each other because we have a lot of expenses with the wedding planning and traveling to see his family in February.
