For once in my life I have started planning the presents early (oh well, at least earlier than I ever have before!) this year!
I am having a hard time figuring out what to get for some family members! Not to speak of my boyfriend! It feels like I have given him EVERYTHING I can come to think about through the years! I dried out of ideas!
My to go to solution to him when I have had a hard time to think of something great, has always been to buy us two a trip somewhere! But this year it wont work since we will be so busy the whole spring, and the summer is allready planned etc, and it feels a bit too ar away to buy him a trip for almost a year away. That won’t really feel like a christmas present!
Whay are you buying for your family members and your SO?
(In my case, it’s mom 68 years old, dad 68 years old, brother 47 years old, niece 17 years old, nephew 20 years old, boyfried 28 years old, BFs mom and dad 63 and 69 years old.)

I looove Christmas and I love giving gifts! I’m so excited that it’s that time of year again – buuut we just bought a house and finished renovations, plus we’re planning a wedding…so this Christmas isn’t going to be as over the top as I like them to be.
My fiance and I decided no gifts for any occasion this year because of the aforementioned financial commitments, but I plan on making it special with a 12 days of Christmas type of thing, with handwritten notes and various favors (not just sexual haha – things that neither of us want to do like cleaning out the hall closet – that would be a legitimate gift for each other lolol)
For the past few years, my family has chosen to go easy on Christmas and adopt a family instead. So we do that and then keep it small for each other. I don’t have any real ideas this year, but last year the gift I was most proud of was for my dad. His mom (my grandma) passed away a long time ago, and had a ‘famous’ sugar cookie recipe as I’m sure all grannies do. I took the handwritten recipe card, enlarged it and wood burned it onto a cutting board. He cried.
Besides my family, we always buy gifts for my fiance’s sisters and their kids. The kids are luckily still at the age where stuff from the Dollar Spot in Target always goes over pretty well lol but I try to be thoughtful with his sisters’ gifts. Last year I made them scarves. Still at a loss for this year.
So basically after typing all of this out I’m realizing I need to start brainstorming like right now!

DH I’m not sure yet, I usually get him a video game and some clothes or cologne or something. Last year I got him a video game, a leather travel toiletry case, a scarf and some slippers as well as a bunch of treats in his stocking.
For our families we usually just gift a bunch of small items, I was thinking of making some homemade hot chocolate mix in a jar and pairing it with a small bottle of booze to mix with it, as well as some silly Christmas socks, homemade cookies, maybe a small gift card with it.

My husband is a huge Chicago Cubs fan so I’m getting him some World Series gear, and possibly something else, not quite sure yet.
My parents are in the process of downsizing their home and they really don’t need “stuff”. They are also doing some landscaping on their property so I will be giving them a gift card to buy some trees.
My brother has basically everything he needs, however he can always use some clothes (he never buys clothes for himself and has things he wore when he was 19) and homegoods such as kitchen gadgets. He will likely be getting his annual sweater from me as well as something for his kitchen.

Me & DH, I don’t know, maybe nothing. Or just inexpensive things, $20 or so. It gets exhausting. And the rest of the family, definitely nothing. Too many people, too much time & money. We have an unspoken rule if you want to get someone something, do it but it doesn’t have to be out in the open.
Getting too carried away with gift cards becomes pointless. Someone gets you a gift, you give then a gift card, it is like you are paying for it. And 2 people both exchanging gift cards, what is the point? But people do it!

Christmas is my favorite season. I have most of my gifts already wrapped lol. I’m getting my fiance tickets to see Wicked the play and I’m getting him a couple of books on his wishlist because he loves to read. For my sister, I got her a barbie doll and a set from Bath & Body works. For my brother, I got him a gas station giftcard because he always brings me to work lol.

I am getting my boyfriend a computer…I have never given a man a gift this expensive but he is the one and I can get it interest free through my job.
I dont give anyone else gifts with the exception of my kids.

The rest of the family, don’t know yet. But SO for Christmas, I usually give him a gift card to an electronic or computer store.

For DH, I am getting him a FitBit, some clothes, video games, a bottle of his favorite alcohol, and his toiletry essentials. In his stocking, I usually fill it with candy, gift cards, socks, underwear, and an ornament.
For my parents, DH and I are getting them each a FitBit.
My siblings, their spouses, my spouse, and I do a Secret Santa. I pulled one of my sisters this year, so I am getting her a couple of things off of her wish list within the predetermined budget.
DH’s family does a Secret Santa exchange as well and I pulled one of my SILs. I will be getting her something off of her wish list within the budget.
