Beer making kit, smoker, or a complete band collection. I would wait on something like the We, the new mini Wii is coming out soon and it is a lot less expensive and a whole lot smaller.

Pajama pants, a calendar, and his favorite cologne. I might get him a gift card to his favorite store.

I know that this sounds weird, but does your SO have any favourite stationary? My SO really loved the Ultra Fine Sharpies (he won’t use any other thickness) but they are really hard to find! So I ordered a huge box of them off of Amazon.

Other suggestions:

Cooking classes?

Download some Apps that he wouldn’t buy for himself but would like? There a heaps of travel apps and things if you are going somewhere soon.

BBQ tongs etc

Something to connect his iPod to his car so that he can listen to his music.

I’m buying my husband a telescope as he has got into stargazing. Also some t shirts, a nice wallet and I’m not sure what else yet.

Some ideas for yours: a really good set of cooking knives or cheese knives, a scratch map (where you can scratch off the places you’ve visited), a craft beer hamper, membership of a beer of the month club.

Pick out (or, if you’re not too into beer yourself, have a sales associate pick out) some fancy craft beers that your fiance may not normally buy for himself. Some beer can get a little expensive but he would most likely appreciate being able to try something new.  My husband and I are both kind of “beer snobs,” so I always pick out something as a gift for him (and for me to sample).

Darling Husband gave me a list of a golf bag, golf clubs, books (7 or 8), and Ipod Classic, and shirts. Unfortunately his mother bought all the books (it’s a good thing I called her while I was out, yesterday!), so I bought him some sweaters and button-down shirts for work (he’s a college professor). I also bought him ‘Forty Creek Cream‘, as he’s been talking about how intrigued he is to try it. I’ll probably buy him a gag gift (‘Fifty Shades of Chicken‘–he’s also a chef by trade), and some customary socks and underwear, too…

I bought my FH a safety razor and a shave set with a badger brush, bowl, soap, and a stand. He’s been wanting one for a while, so it seemed like a good opportunity to do so.

I got mine a cardigan and a really nice duffel bag.  I also got him a book that chronicles the history of major events in the Spiderman comics.  Not crazy exciting, but all things that I know he’ll really like and get use out of.

I know you said you don’t want to get him the Apple TV, but we have one and we honestly use it every single day.  It’s great.  I’d seriously consider getting him this if I were you.

Well  my fiance’s birthday is conveniently today (December 10th) so …. yeah.

I went crazy this year and bought him an XBOX for his birthday/Christmas present.

Then we decided to get a couples massage for mutual Christmas presents and we are also going to a new (to us) restaurant for dinner that night.

I know it ruins the point of a surprise, but how would you/he feel about asking him what he prefers most?

My husband only asks for super practical things which is no fun. Think socks, t-shirts, boxers. So my Mom and I went out and bought him this electronic drum set. I also got him a nice pair of headphones.

Assassins creed 3, which he mentioned wanting casually a few weeks ago. and the batman comics that Christopher Nolan said he based the dark knight trilogy on. It’s not something he asked for, but he adores the dark knight trilogy, so I think he’ll I appreciate it.
