Um. Nothing. I had no idea we were supposed to gets gifts for the parents on our wedding day. (Also, we can’t afford it. They aren’t in the wedding, nor are they getting corsages/bouts.)

I’ll probably just be paying for mom’s hair/makeup and a photo for each. I’m keeping it very simple because neither one is really contributing anything to our wedding (no money, no travelling for appointments with vendors, and certainly not much support emotionally either). And our budget is very tight.

For my Something Blue I bought a dainty blue Topaz solitaire necklace in a yellow gold bezel and I bought my mom one as well as her Mother of the Bride gift. For my grandparents I had an old picture of the three of us (Gpa, Gma, Me) when I was four and a flower girl in my aunt’s wedding retouched (since it was damaged) and put it in a frame that has room for two photos. Under the old picture I had “1995” and under the empty portion it says “2012” for them to put a new picture of the three of us together at my wedding.

Nothing here as well. Although I am paying for my mom’s and FMIL’s hair and makeup, just so they can come to the salon and have fun with us. And they will all get corsages and bouts, since they are all walking down the aisle.

Around here I don’t think gifts are usually given to the parents, not that I am aware of anyways.  The day before the wedding  will be giving our parents a heartfelt letter thanking them for all of their love and support. We will also be giving them each a photobook of wedding pictures.

Although, I am getting my dad cufflinks for Christmas that say “Daddy’s Little Girl” on one and have a photo of us when I was young on the other one. He’ll eat that right up. So that could be an idea.
