@rbuchanan09:  Mine probably won’t help you because Darling Husband and I aren’t exchanging gifts this year.  We’re taking a trip in June, so we decided to forgo gifts in order to save money.  However, we are buying eachother a card and writing a letter to eachother, and I’m actually excited for that gift.

My DH was impossible to shop for this year! He has all the gadgets he can ever want, developed no new hobbies, lacked interest in his old hobbies (this year has been really busy for him), and I am incompetent to buy him sporting goods he likes. So I am taking him on a date, to see zoolights and have a quiet dinner. I also (as a part 2) got us January reservations at a restaurant he has been interested in going to, but can’t seem to ever get reservations (they have cancelled on us 3 times, so hopefully the 4th time is the charm).

Instead of buying big gifts for eachother this year we decided to buy a dishwasher, and get little gifts.  So I bought him a teeshirt with Galifrean symbold on it (Dr. Who) and a sticker.  I might get him a level also, as an inside joke.

@rbuchanan09:  I’m with the bees that aren’t doing physical gifts! We haven’t for a few years now. Instead of buying eachother something we have an experience toghether. Last year we did a ‘staycation’ so stayed in a fancy hotel downtown and went out for dinner and had a lovely time. This year we are going to Mexico. There are other fun things you can do depending on your area. Next year I would like to do a Chef’s Table at one of the local fancy restaurants (It’s usually an 8 course tasting menu and they set you up at a table in the kitchen so you can watch and enjoy the chefs creations and they usually run about $120+pp) because it is an experience we would never enjoy at any old time of the year.

If you want to do a traditional gift, just focus on his interests and ask his best friends and family if he’s been eyeing anything!

A reversible hunting jacket that he’s been salivating over for a few months, and Cabella’s Dangerous Hunts 2013 for his XBox. (I decided I’d support his hunting and Xbox obsessions this year. haha.)

I’m taking him to Nicaragua for 3 weeks!  πŸ˜€  He just finished school and is about to start working in February, and I have a job that pays pretty well and I can take unpaid leave in the winter – so what better time! We’re getting dive certified, surfing, climbing volcanoes, going birding, and vegging on the beach.

we are terrible about getting each other gifts. he never knows how to surprise me/ wrap things and i never know what to buy him. so we just blanket say anything we need/buy in december, that’s the christmas present! =P

we’ve also been moving and having a lot of transitions over the past few months so we decided to be frugal. so this year we bought an apple TV and then we will take a road trip in jan to see his parents.
