I gave both of them a scrapbook of our civil ceremony (we had a civil ceremony before our big wedding in Feb). However, you could IOU them a scrapbook (handmade, shutterfly, or professional) of the pics from your wedding-I know my parents loved theirs

We are giving both mothers a 3 stone light blue sapphire (the stone in my ring) necklace to represent FI’s family, my family and the new family that will be started on our wedding day. Both dads love to garden so we are giving them a white flowering dogwood tree that will bloom every July (the month we are getting married) to remind them how much we love them and appreciate them. We are doing photobooks for Christmas.

Hope this helps!

For my mom and stepdad: probably tickets to the symphony or ballet, since they love that sort of thing.

For my dad/stepmom, I have no idea. They have virtually no interests in common that I’m aware of, so it’s hard to get them one thing that they’ll both like.

For my Future In-Laws, I also have no idea.  The only thing that I know of that they like to do together is antiquing.

Agh, I dunno yet. I’m considering this alphabet art custom name print from Etsy. I think it’s so cool – but I didn’t want to get my Future In-Laws and my parents the same gift.

I looked at Things Remembered, but it’s a ripoff – they charge you per word for customization. Yikes – want a quote, forget it!

Our wedding is in July, so for Christmas I might give my parents a photo album (my Future In-Laws don’t celebrate holidays, so we’re off the hook there). The Future In-Laws also don’t have full albums of FI’s brother’s wedding, just a nice framed photo. I’m thinking of getting them a customized photo to put up too.

I’m kind of still at a loss, to be honest. We don’t have the funds unfortunately to get them anything really extravagant.

@peaches1038: the dogwood idea is fantastic! Future Father-In-Law is a landscaper, I didn’t even think of getting him something to plant! Such a unique idea. I just might have to steal it. 😉

For my Mother-In-Law, I was thinking along the necklace line, like peaches1038. Instead of doing 3 stones of the same colour, however, I was hoping to do more of a mother’s pride thing with my birthstone, hers, and FI’s. Also, maybe an embroidered hanky to use at the wedding (she’s a huge crier).

As for Father-In-Law, I’m really not sure.. same with my Dad. I know Fiance wants to golf with them on the morning of the wedding, though..

My Mum won’t be in attendance (not invited).

going to get each set of parents a coffee book album of our wedding, in the meantime, just present them with a framed picture of me and Fiance during our e-session and an IOU on the album.

we’re giving both mothers a personalized hankerchief with out initials and wedding date and matching color of wedding with the phrase “to dry your tears, as you have dried mine” and our fathers…we’re giving fleur de lis (he is fron new orleans) swarovski cuff links. also, we are giving both personalized photo albums of the wedding day…but catered more to their photos and not so much of my friends dancing and such, that way its one of a kind

I love everyones ideas!!! We’re doing handkerchiefs too!

For my mom: “Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, forever your little girl.” And this bracelet from Tiffany’s- http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=23318768&mcat=148204&cid=287458&search_params=s+2-p+2-c+287458-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+-k+ She mentioned how much she liked it when we were looking at bridesmaid presents!

For mil: “Thank you for raising your son to be the man of my dreams.” We still haven’t decided on her big present though.. probably jewelry.

Both of the big presents will be from both of us.

We aren’t doing parent gifts because we are paying for the wedding ourselves, my mom passed away 15 years ago, and my FI’s parents won’t be able to come to the wedding due to their age and health. After we get our pro pictures back though, I will be sending my stepdad a picture of us and his parents an album of our pictures.
