So today, while touring a venue, and talking to the coordinator, she asked if we were having a sweetheart table or a head table? I’d never heard of a sweetheart table before today.. call me ignorant! lol But anyways for those of you who didn’t know.. a sweetheart table is a substitution for the head table. Instead of having your wedding party, it is just you and your new hubby. So here’s my question, what are you doing at your reception??

Excited to see some of the bridal party members that live far away so I’m sitting with the bridal party, but not at a long head table. Probably at the sme kind of tables everyone else we be sitting at.

I was just planning on doing a head table. She did point out that with the sweetheart table you have two round tables next to you with your wedding party and families… and that it would be easier to talk to everyone you wanted at your head table. Idk. I still think i’m going to do a head table as originally planned.

- Wedding: March 2012 - Pelican Grand Beach Resort

We did a headtable, but not the kind with just the bridal party. We had three royal/king tables end to end with us in the middle with 26 of our friends. Everyone else was at single royal tables perpendicular to our own with 10-12 people per table.

@Woodstock: Hi date twin! We are doing a head table. I would feel uncomfortable at a sweetheart table…I don’t know why..lol!

I would have chosen to do a sweetheart table with my fiance and son because I always hate sitting in a long row at the head table away from my family when I’m in weddings – it isn’t the greatest setup for chatting with the rest of the bridal party anyway! But my Maid/Matron of Honor won’t know anyone else there — was hoping a date might be able to join her, but he was just deployed. I think generally it is a nice idea for everyone involved!!

Neither, we just sat at a normal table with my sisters and their SOs, and my DH’s sons.

At first, I thought this was going to be a baby gender thread that was in the wrong place! 🙂
We had a sweetheart table, and I loved it! It was so nice to have some alone time to just talk and eat… it’s amazing how hard it is to eat at your own wedding. Plus, then all the members of the bridal party could sit with their SO’s and family. They all knew each other, but we wanted them to have as much time as possible with whoever they came with.

Head table (although it will be same size and shape as every other table, nothing special, just us and the bridal party and their SO’s). I would flip a lid if I was forced to sit at a tiny table with my Fiance while people watched us eat, lol. I’d rather sit and joke with our best friends and siblings at the head table and have fun. I know people say it’s nice to have some alone time w/ the new hubs at the wedding but frankly I feel like we have FOREVER to be alone together (we already eat dinner alone together every night for the past 5 years, hehe), the reception is our time to interact and partayyy with our nearest and dearest 😛

We did a king’s table with our bridal party and their dates. It was great for all of us to be able to sit and eat and be able to visit. We have people on both sides so we didn’t feel on display so much while we were eating.
