@heatherrobyn:I would think if your church is bigger, he’d charge even less since the church has more income from its members. Have you looked around at other officiates to see if the price is comparable to your area?

@heatherrobyn: That would be so sweet. We were thinking about that, but my dad is worried enough about getting down the aisle with me without bawling, so he didn’t think he could handle it! lol

Mine is $300 for the rehearsal and ceremony. We’re not members of his church, either. $600 sounds extremely high to me.

That seems like a lot. Maybe it’s a location thing?

Since my parents are members of our temple, they didn’t charge us anything. If we weren’t members it would have been $400, so my parents gifted that amount to the temple.

$200 for a non-religious officiant here in Iowa.

Are you getting married in that church also?  Churches typically charge a fee for using their church and then an additional amount for the Minister.  Churches here also pay a portion of that cost to the pianist and anyone else that you “use” from their church.

Free, we had a friend sign up online. I have spoken to officiants in the area and they started at 400 and went up. They all have the online license which you don’t even need in Nebraska so I thought they were ridiculously high especially since there was no location or church included. .

0…one of my mom’s best friends, who is basically a second mother to me, is a member of our church and a justice of the peace!  So she’s conducting the ceremony 🙂

Ours is $450 for the ceremony and rehearsal.  We aren’t getting married in a church, and I found most officiants were around that price.

My Fiance and I are paying $650.00 just to be married in the church and thats not including the offiant fees or anything. So we are probably going to be paying around $1000 for our ceremony location. We do not regulary attend this church at all. We just love the location and the setting of the church.

I think it totally depends on where you are. Here in San Francisco, the fees include the church and the officiant, as well as the pre-marital counseling. The rates vary from $1000-$2400. You still have to tip the officiant and hire/tip the musician, as well. So $600 sounds great to me!

I’m in Chicago and we are paying $600 for our officiant (a retired reverend) and it’s an additional $150 for our rehearsal.  I was actually wondering if $600 was too high myself, but we love this guy and are willing to pay for his services.

Ours was $700 but we also got pre-marital counseling included.
