Mr. S LOVES using plastic utensils at home (I know). He has like 1 real fork and spoon and 10 plastic utensils. It drives me insane when I see a plastic utensil washed and drying in the dish rack. I immediately throw all of them away when he’s not nearby, but somehow he becomes magically restocked with new plastic utensils the next time I come over. He’s also super OCD about having clean hands. And he refuses to wash his hands in the kitchen. So it’s the worst when he’s in the kitchen and gets his hands dirty – he’ll hold them up like a surgeon to make sure he doesn’t touch anything around him and walks all the way to the bathroom sink to wash his hands.

Just out of curiosity, Ms. Sapphire, why do you throw his plastic utensils away? Shouldn’t it be his choice what kind of utensils he uses, especially since you don’t seem to be living together? Just seems odd, for you to throw away something he’s spent money on and prefers to use.

He’s verrrry absent-minded. He loses things all the time and forgets to do things.  My husband doesn’t open his mail either, usually. And he’s got a lead foot. We have gotten so many tickets from speed cameras for going like 12 over. The speed limit around here is 25 on most city roads and he’ll go 36 and flash-flash-flash…ticket. It doesn’t impact your driver’s license points or your insurance rates, thank god, but still. Some other serious stuff has happened because of it and he is starting to get better about remembering. Like now he remembers to put the toothpaste cap on most of the time so it doesn’t leak all over the counter. That makes me happy.

He chews with his mouth open.  I yell at his paretns about it all the time.  Its so gross. If our kids get that from him I’m gonna be so angry!

I’d be willing to bet my fiance has more pet peeves about me than I do about him!

@liz.smith, my fiance sounds similar to yours with the joking and making fun.  Sometimes he still acts like he’s in jr high teasing a younger sibling…and I have to remind him to grow up and be kind!

@ Ms. Sapphire – I laughed out loud when I read about your SO’s surgeon hands. Hilarious.

My husband loves magazine subscriptions. He has like 10 of them, which is fine, but he NEVER throws them away. 10 magazines a month for years adds up to a lot of space being wasted. He swears he will need something from them one day, so we just have to keep them. And he likes to bring up the old "it’ll be a collector’s item one day" line. I secretly throw old ones in the recycle bin when he’s not around. I’m sorry, but a Sportsman’s Magazine from 2002 isn’t going to come in handy one day.

This sounds cheesy, but sometimes he’s TOO PATIENT! It can be frustrating when I just want to vent (or for him to vent with me), and he’s being so understanding and reasonable that I can’t bounce anything off of him. 😛

It also bothers me when we’re cleaning together, and he decides that something trivial, like reorganizing his sock drawer, has to be done RIGHT THEN, while I’m doing something major and visible, like cleaning the bathroom. Grr. 😛

Hmmm…some small ones are his snoring at night anddd how he plays WOW wayyyyy too much…

But, the one thing that seriously drives me insane, which probably seems small is…he is OBSESSED with chewing ice. Any time we get fast food or whatever, as soon as he’s done with his drink, he takes off the lid and just goes to town chewing that ice…drives me crazy lol

Where do I begin : )

I think my Fiance is related to chelseamorning’s husband.  Completely absent minded.  Never opens mail, forgets to pay bills, loses his keys/wallet/phone/ipod constantly.

He also leaves soda cans around the apartment – at least 3 a day.

But I think my biggest pet peeve is that he leaves his wet towel (from the shower) on our bed EVERY time he takes a shower.  Despite the fact that we have multiple shower hooks and I remind him all the time not to do it.

My husband also is always losing his keys, sunglasses or breaks his cellphone. I think he has been through at least 10 cell phones since I’ve know him, two of those were over $100 phones that I got him. He has also lost two VERY expensive pairs of Oakley sunglasses that I asked him not to get because he would lose them within 3 months. Both pairs gone in two months….so when we where in Cozumel for our honeymoon he found fake Oakleys just like the ones he lost, he got 3 pairs for $30. Well, two of those he’s already lost/broken. A few months ago he lost both sets of keys for his truck so I had to go to the dealership and pay $35 for them to cut a new key which I then took and made 6 copies of it. He has lost his two copies and is using one of other spares, I keep two of those with my keys so he doesn’t lose them too.

His bestman said it best during his speech, "If you know Blake at all, he is always losing either his keys or his cell found and never has both on him at the same time" SO TRUE
