I’m currently fantasizing about all the long hikes I don’t have the balls to go on. I just read “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed (absolutely so well-written, made me ugly cry more than once) and “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson (the opposite – wet-your-pants funny).
I really don’t like YA, but I recently read “The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making” and I did like that. It’s sort of a fairy tale but with some dark shit in it, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

“my Grandmother told me to tell you she’s sorry” I’m really liking it so far!

I’m a middle school English teacher, so I LOVE YA books. Right now I’m reading the last book of the Lunar Chronicles (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter). I highly recommend that series, especially if you like science fiction/modernized fairy tales. Scarlet was a little hard to get through because there wasn’t as much action, but the others have been fantastic.
If you liked The Other Boelyn Girl, you might like Wolf Hall.

poppy77 : sounds interesting, I will have to put it on my wishlist.
skunktastic : I have looked at the defiance book all the time, but for some reason I just never take the leap and buy it. I liked the movie alot maybe i will have to look into that (plus I loved Harry Potter).
khaleesi19 : Ohhh I am going to have to look into that one! Just the title sounds good!
llevinso : We finish the books atleast! It just takes a bit longer then some of our readers like, but you have to wait for the slowest reader.

marriedtopizza : Interesting, I want to read Wild because I have heard such great things about it, but I think I will wait until I’m on the Honeymoon for that one.
ecampbell : Thank you for your recommendations! I will look into them, I know I have heard of that series before, so hopefully I will actually get to read it!

I am currently reading Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling’s pen name). It is the second book in her Comoran Strike detective series, and it is really good!
I just finished reading The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto (by Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie) and it was PHENOMENAL. I cannot give it enough praise, it was an incredible book. Heartbreaking, but so beautiful.

I’m currently reading the Pretty Little Liars series lol. The writing is pretty awful but I find the books are more enjoyable than the TV show, which I never thought I’d say.

ahartig : I’m not sure if it’s been recommended yet but I really enjoyed the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. She has another out as well called A Court of Thorns and Roses, also highly recommend – although that’s not YA as it is so much New Adult.
Also, you may already know but in case you don’t, there is a great website, goodreads.com. It has a whole community, you can track what you’ve read, are currently reading, and want to read all in a great “my books” list. You can search various genre’s and add to your list of books. It’s my go to when I’m trying to find something new.

I am actually looking to get into reading. Any of you know any feel good books? I usually like anthologies because I lose interest in long stories.
Let me know if you know any feel good books 🙂

I’m re-reading the Harry Potter series. I’m on The Prisoner of Azkaban. I’m having so much fun reading them again.
