I’m having a super hard time finding a card box for our wedding. I looked on Etsy but cant seem to find something I like and/or they are super expensive. What will you be using for a card box? Will you buy one? Make it? Rent it? I need ideas please!! Thank 🙂

@sweetchiquita12: I’m using a picnic basket that we got second-hand. Goes with our rustic decor. If I have the time, I’ll probably re-line it with something in our colors (right now, it has blue gingham fabric on the inside).
I’ve seen people use mailboxes, and I thought that was pretty cute.

@sweetchiquita12: We used a bird cage, decorated with a handmade sign and ribbon, worked great!

I’m using a large round hat box, where I’ll make a slit on the top. Nothing too unique 😛 I love the birdcage/lantern ideas.

We are using old barnwood as table runners so my Future Father-In-Law made a card box/ mini trunck out of the extra wood. It has a lid and can be locked I just need to find an antique looking latch for it. Ive seen some great ones in the DIY section on this sight too.

I bought ours, I also looked on Etsy and couldn’t BELIEVE what people spent on theirs!

I’ve seen people use mailboxes, but a friend of mine just took an old shoebox, put a slit in the top, covered it in fabric that matched her wedding colors and used that.

I bought a woven box from the basket section at Michael’s. It was on sale for $5, but I’m pretty sure it was less than $20 full price. I had a piece of string with all the letters spelling out “CARDS” attached to the inside of the lid, and it sat open on the table.

I made a bird cage card box. Found the bird cage and fixed it up. I also ended up selling it after the wedding and got all our expenses back so it ended up costing us nothing.

I found a birdcage at TJMaxx, and my mother painted it ivory for me. I then added some silk peonies and some beautiful ribbon.
