To preface this, we got married in a church with two amazing pipe organs, so we both wanted to take advantage of them.  I walked down the aisle to Charpentier’s Te Deum prelude (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tQqNon55Wg) because I wanted something traditional that wasn’t the most common bridal march. I had also considered Jeremiah Clarke’s A Trumpet Voluntary (also called the Prince of Denmark march), but decided against it in the end.

I wanted at least one of the marches to be slightly less traditional though and though that it might be nice to have a piece of film music. I considered the Throne Room theme from the Episode 4 of Star Wars, but my husband thought that since neither of us was that hugely into Star Wars, it would be a little odd. In the end, we walked back down the aisle as the organist played an arrangement from the Return of the King soundtrack. I’m a massive Tolkien geek, so it felt right and the music in the coronation scene felt properly majestic and like it would work well on the organ.

When I first contacted the organist, I was slightly scared that he would be really against playing non-church music (they can refuse to play anything that they feel is against the tone of the event), but I shouldn’t have worried. He was nice enough to arrange something for us, at no extra cost, as long as we found the sheet music for him.

truthah:  my Fiance made a few comments about that too lol! If he had let me I would have used it for a first dance so we figured the instrumental version for the processional was a fair compromise.

The hazards of love 4 by the Decemberists. Slightly odd perhaps, given the drowning aspect, but i figured since its a song about two people who would rather die together then be alive and apart that its sort of romantic right? Anyway, its very pretty

pipsqueak:  That is awesome, I am feeling a little jealous right now. LOL  My mother passed away in 2005 but sang opera as a hobby.  We have a recording of her singing Ave Maria that we will use.
