Bee’s I need help! We’re a low budget DIY wedding, I’m looking for ideas on appetizers room temp or something slightly chilled but nothing to hot (trying to avoid renting too many chaffing dishes). So what are your favorite room temp/cold appetizers? Bonus gold star points for items that can be made ahead! If you have recipes that would be great too! Thanks!

@Kcasam thanks for the link I’m going to dive in!
Bruschetta is definitely on top of the list right now as you can make it a couple of days ahead and let it “marinate” YUMMY!
Keep the suggestions coming please!

Cold spinach dip? You could have it all like pre-scooped onto nice crackers or french bread slices?

@lilyfaith: Oh wow you just made me really hungry! Those look amazing!
Here’s 2 suggestions I have:
Proscuitto wrapped melon is super easy. You can do honeydew or cantalope and either make it a ball or a chunk, then wrap it in the meat and hold everything in place with a handy toothpick!
Tortilla Wraps. I love so many varieties of this and they’re great finger foods. The one I make is a cream cheese filled mixture.
2 blocks cream cheese, softened
1/2 packet of ranch dip mix
1/4 cup chopped celery or green bell pepper
1/8 to 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
handful of finely chopped bacon (or bacon bits)
1 tbsp of chopped black olives (you can buy them in the can pre-chopped)
Mix all ingredients and spread onto tortillas. Roll tortillas, cut into slices and refridgerate.
You can also do the wraps with cheese, lettuce, turkey, and tomato or cucumber, or any other combo really.

Veggie and Cheese Tray! I also love salami and other meats like proscuitto and serrano ham.
Olives and nuts are nice too.

Mini sandwiches done up to look a little fancy
Cold soup shots (or even just warm)

Deviled eggs can be made a day ahead. We are having those as one of our appetizers during our cocktail hour.
I also second the veggie tray and fruit tray ideas.

I love shrimp cocktail but I’m worried about it being to tricky to keep cold. If it gets room temp that would be bad, same thing with deviled eggs!
With the wraps don’t they get kind of mushy if they sit?

i second shrimp cocktail! yum!
Also, how about chocolate covered strawberries? They are WAY easier to make than you think. I tried it once and now I do it about once or twice a year and I love them! Everyone is always impressed. It works well with other fruits too!
